  fat cats

The other night I had the pleasure of having a great night out with some of our best friends. It was a spontaneous evening date, nothing on the calendar for months in advance but the big question was where we should go?

After a few failed try’s for reservations we all agreed that the oldie but a very goodie would be our dinner destination for the evening. One of Tremont’s coolest places to eat Fat Cat’s was way better that any of us remembered.

We had a 7:30 reservation and when we showed up it was jam packed. We enjoyed some great cocktails, insane tater tots with tomatoe jam, korean barbeque ribs, mussels and lumpia (filipino egg rolls.) The food was great, the service was outstanding and the company was even better.

I have to admit, I often forget about Fat Cat’s but not anymore, back on my top go-to places for a great dinner with friends.  If you haven’t been there in awhile go grab a drink but make sure you have a reservation because unlike me, a lot of Clevelanders haven’t forgot what a gem of a restaurant it is.

  celebrate earth

Hi everybody, happy Monday and even better HAPPY EARTH DAY! What a wild weekend weather-wise don’t you think? Literally Friday it was warm with a spring-like breeze, then Saturday morning we had suspicious white flakes and Sunday while the sun was pretty it was chilly again. Come on CLE weather fairy it’s time to warm things up.

Did you do anything to celebrate Earth Day over the weekend? I mean, besides recycling your wine bottles or picking up friends to go out, carpooling to save on gas. I know that the big festival presented by the Earth Day Coalition was held at the Berea Fairgrounds yesterday, I’m glad they had great weather too.  I believe the celebration of Mother Earth used to be at the zoo but so many people wanted to celebrate they were looking for a larger venue, so that’s cool.

If you took the day off work today to celebrate but now have decided you actually don’t want to do spring yard clean up and you’d rather stay indoors…HGTV is hosting an all day marathon of my personal go-to show Love it or List it! It’s half remodel show, half chartacter development and a game show all rolled into one hour of home improvement fun. If you’ve never seen it, now is the time to check it out.

Yesterday I was in the backyard of our new-ish home when I noticed these little violets trying their best to lift their faces and smile towards the sun to celebrate spring and how happy they are to be nesteled at the edge of our patio. I couldn’t help but smile and be happy that while most of the yard is still a cool shade of gray green, these charmers were a vibrant pop of purple in all their glory.

Happy Earth Day Cleveland. I hope you can get outside and explore your yard, your community, a local park or beach. Find something that makes you thankful it’s almost spring summer in the CLE and be thankful that the Month of May is quickly approaching! Cheers.

In honor of the 75th Anniversary of Action Comics SUPERMAN Mayor Frank Jackson has declared April 18th, National Superman Day!

Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound this guy has stole the heart of not only Clevelanders but children and adults all over the globe.

For activities throughout the city that “heart” and promote our superhero check out this nice article that The Plain Dealer published. Some of the activities and events include comic book readings, free comic books and a not-to-be-missed a convention. Check it out!

  Inked for Ohio

So as someone with lots of interests, I tend to follow various local businesses on all sorts of social media platforms. How about you?

I’ve gotta say, someone who does a really good job at utilizing facebook is local skate shop West Side Skates. From their weekly new cool sneaker posts, to featuring area skaters & events they are constantly rocking their fb page.

The other day the photo above caught my eye of Brad skating through our state. I just had to share this bit of ink with you all today.

As summer begins to show it’s pretty head, this usually means more skin, which means more ink to share and show. If you have a great tattoo that you want to share, and it somehow reflects our city/state send it my way at editor@iheartcleveland.com and we will do our best to share it! Peace.

  Prayers from Cleveland

The Cleveland Foundation said it best.

My heart hurts for the tragedy in Boston. My heart hurts for the runners who had trained for the race of a lifetime. My heart hurts for the families and friends who had come out to support their running hero’s. Please say a little prayer, send out good energy into the world and call your loved ones to remind them of how much you care about them. Boston, we heart you.

  Giveaway : Tri-C JazzFest

Good morning CLE & happy TAX Day! Hope everyone got by without owing too much to “the man” this year. Perhaps you’ve even received a refund…time to shop! :)

Did you know that this week kicks off the JazzFest? Last year I had the pleasure of attending the Tri-C JazzFest for the very first time. I saw the very talented, stunning and engaging artist Diana Krall at one of the many concerts during the week of live music presented by the JazzFest.

Now is your turn to win a pair of tickets and experience for yourself just how great this annual event really is.

Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland features jazz performances, classes, lectures, and many other concert and community outreach activities. Local and national artists teach, compose, arrange, and perform. Concerts take place at PlayhouseSquare, the Metropolitan Campus of Cuyahoga Community College, and the new MOCA Cleveland. This year, the show is running from April 19 thru May 4.

In addition to the show, there is an Opening Night Party on April 19 to kick off the festival! The party will be held at Playhouse Square in the State Theatre Lobby from 5-7pm and is sponsored by Great Lakes Brewing Company. The event is free and open to the public, and will feature live music by Detroit’s Nadir & Distorted Soul. After the party, the fest will kick off with performances by Aaron Neville and Dr. John at 8pm!

So you want in? Want that free pair of tickets? Visit the festival site to explore the performers, then tweet me @iheartclev  which artist you would like to see at this years  #TriCJazzFest. Winner to be chosen by  Wednesday, April 17th! Good luck.

  Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday friends. Hope everybody had a great week. From kicking it off with the Tribe’s Home Opener, and then the 70 degree tank top wearing Tuesday, followed up by a mid-week Wednesday night house party and now prepping for the weekend I swear, there are so many fun things to do and this weekend is no exception.

Tonight get yourself to Tremont to enjoy the monthly Art Walk. Perhaps you could also stop by the newly revamped Tremont Scoops for some creamy spring sweets.

Saturday brings the really fun day of the Lottery League concerts. Many artists coming together to form new bands, new songs and new sounds for our region…topped off with food trucks and you’ve got yourself a MUST for your Saturday.

There are also some new additional showings and stand by tickets available for this years Cleveland International Film Festival movies. Happy Birthday shout out to the CIFF as they actually turn 37 years old on Saturday.

There is the big Best of the Scene Party at the Cleveland Public Library on Friday night and Yuri’s Night Party at the Science Center on Saturday night.

Hey, and if you feel like finding a good vintage score, don’t miss the Cleveland FLEA or Gray’s Auction, Warehouse Auction.

Also if you didn’t get enough of the first week of our Indians (Let’s Go Tribe!) they are playing the White Socks all weekend long. Take me out to the ballpark!

Cheers everybody, is it time for a cocktail yet? :)

  Cleveland FLEA

Morning CLE! How is everybody doing today post Tribe Opening Day antics? We were so lucky to have such great weather. While I still wore a few layers just in case, there were many rocking the tank top and “jorts” (jean shorts!) look at the stadium…it’s still April people, I’m just sayin.

Anyhow. It’s been a few wild and crazy weeks over here. Slammin jammin at work, lots of company in town, the Film Fest (get your tickets for this weekend it’s gonna be crazy packed!) planning a home remodel and a vacation…bring it on!

Have you heard about the Cleveland flea? Well from what I know it’s a great place to score some sweet vintage finds on the second Saturday of each month. Lots of great vendors coming together  in the St Clair Superior neighborhood looking to offer you a special find for your home or that unique spring accessory. There are artisan food vendors, people who make stuff and a great vibe for our city. It’s happening THIS SATURDAY morning and you should for sure check it out. For details check out their facebook page!

So enjoy the rest of this weeks nice weather. Happy spring Cleveland, happy finds at the FLEA!

  be kind.

Hello CLE. Isn’t this sunshine divine? It truly just makes me so happy. Also, side note…just looked at Monday’s weather and for Opening Day…50, overcast but NO RAIN! Get psyched!

Okay, today I wanted to share a little video that was developed by our friends at the Cleveland Clinic. It was initially an internal piece for employees and such, but I think it speaks VOLUME to how we as humans and as citizens of the CLE should behave. It’s a bit over 4 minutes in length and has “subtitles” so you have to actually read the video, but it is moving and I hope you like it.

If you do, pass it along to your friends who might also need a bit of a reminder that we are all individuals with different things going on…and we all live here on this earth together.

Great job Clinic marketing and communications team, it truly is a wonderful piece!
