  Shhh..it’s starting! the 37th CIFF!!!

Well, it’s almost here friends. The 37th Cleveland International Film Fest kicks off tomorrow night! I have my pack of tickets, I will be assembling my snacks, riding the RTA and best part spending the weekend with my mom.

For the past handful of years it has become our tradition for her to come in from out of town and cram in as many interesting films as we can. We sometimes take a break and escape to the Ritz for a cocktail n the lobby but this year who knows, we may also check out the bars at Horseshoe!

While I LOVE having my mom for the weekend and the films are the best, every year I wait in anticipation to see what the official festival trailer will be. This years graphics are bright, bold and captivating I can only guess what the trailer might be.

To recap some of the previous years trailers I have provided a few below. Personally, I love the floating animals from last years festival…but then again I adore the concept and music from year 32…each one is creative to our city and our festival.

  Market at the Fig

Hello Clevelanders and happy holiday weekend.
Couldn’t we all use a break? A few days off to rest our brains from deadlines, to do lists, meetings and conference calls? I for sure am looking forward to an extra day to relax and enjoy Northeast Ohio.

As everyone is beginning to make weekend plans, I wanted to share with you an adorable little place I went to lunch at yesterday, Market at the Fig; a small urban pantry.

Created by Karen Small also chef owner at Flying Fig, her vision for a neighborhood lunch, wine, gourmet cheese and sweets destination has come to fruition. The food was delicious…we had an Dilled Farm Egg Salad on focaccia roll, a Spanish Tuna fish sandwich and the special of the day a cucumber sandwich. Thumbs up all around! An extra plus is you can take your lunch outside and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the Historic Ohio City area…it’s simply city awesomeness! Everyone should try and stop in this weekend, it’s so sweet. Way to go Market at the Fig!

A couple of other things…don’t forget about the big Rock Hall Ball this evening. The Taste of Cleveland and the Air Show all weekend long. PLUS for those of us beach lovers…grab your towel and get outside I think it’s gonna clear up.

Last but not least, as we move into the month of September, I am going to be blogging for the The Ohio Chevy Network Dealers from out and about around Cleveland. Please visit gottalovechevyneo.com to see what fun myself and the other area bloggers get ourselves into!

Inked for Ohio & weekend fun (08/13)

Hello CLEVELAND!!!!

I have been traveling for work a bunch as of late and I am SO SO SORRY for being a little slacking on letting you know what the scoop around the ‘hood is.

First off, I want to introduce you to Nichole. I ran into her a few weeks ago and couldn’t help but notice her artwork on her arm. She said it came to her in a dream, that’s her and her best friend on a great day in our city. Thanks Nichole for sharing your “tat,” it seems like a wonderful dream to me!!!

Now, onto this weekend…

- It’s the second weekend of the month, so you know what that means…the evening art walk in Tremont. Hip hip horray!!
- Have you tried the new RoseAngel? I hear the drinks are to die for, so beat the heat with a mojito or margarita before the labor day weekend!
- 100 days, 100 nights….To know a man’s heart….Ms Sharon is coming to the Rock Hall…don’t miss her.
- There once was a great friend who gave me an even better book…she recommend I read it while eating chocolate & drinking wine…And so...the movie comes out this weekend…not too be missed!

Just a few little somethings to keep you busy in the land of Cleve the next few days!

XOXO -iheartcleveland

  Trot Home Grand Opening (12/05)

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

There is a new kid in town…a new home decor destination that is celebrating their Grand Opening this Saturday. What could be more fun than an afternoon trip to downtown Peninsula to explore the new store, Trot Home, while you are there, visit Winking Lizard for a Christmas Ale or Cranberry-tini to kick off your holiday festivities!

I won’t give you all the details because my friends over at Orange Beautiful posted the complete story and some great photos of the store, so make sure to read the entire article there.

I plan on visiting the store at some point from now until Christmas..a new lamp, a throw pillow, perhaps a reupholstered stool…you can never have too many! PLUS, if you visit THIS Saturday during the open house, Trot Home is offering a 10% discount, every penny counts!

  Weekend Plans?

Its fall right?

I mean, I’ve switched over my closet, flip flops to knee hi’s, straw beach bags to suede slouch bag…so now what? What’s with the dog days of summer? The September humidity is enough to make my hair curl like Bernadette Peters.

I mean, I love it! Don’t get me wrong, there is till more summer fun to be had this weekend…the questions is, how to fit it all in…

> The Tribe is in town against Baltimore. One last soft pretzel before snowfall?
> Opening weekend at The Great Lakes Theater Festival. I think the Twelfth Night looks super fun!
> Did I mention the party on the Bridge?
> How about a drink at Great Lakes Brewing for Ocktoberfest? Doesn’t dumplings, cabbage and pretzels sound dreamy?
> Let’s go Brownies! Game time 1:00 against Baltimore.
> Feel like an afternoon movie? This documentary looks amazing, although I’m not sure I want to know about how tuna will be extinct in a few? (sorta yummy!) Playing at the Cleveland Art Museum.
> Or maybe I’ll go pick a pumpkin out at one of the many NorthEast Ohio Farms

Guess I’ll go try and “mapquest” my plan of attack. I HEART fall!

  Want some Irish? (7/24-26)

Friday, July 24th through Sunday July 26th, 2009

If you are craving some corn beef & cabbage, or perhaps a bit of “river-dance” plan to attend this weekends Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival at the Berea Fairgrounds

I think the highlight of the festival should be the irish girl band, The Screaming Orphans. The lassies are four funny, high-spirited, musically-obsessed sisters with the good fortune to have been raised in the magic of Bundoran in County Donegal Ireland. Don’t miss em. (Friday & Saturday on the “thunder” stage @ 5:30pm)

For the other musical acts, dance troupes, food vendors, ticket prices and more visit www.clevelandirish.org
