  Superior Art!

Hey CLE! Have you entered the giveaway for a $50 gift card to Pat Catan’s/Prizm Art Supplies Store? If you haven’t no worries, you still have time! Enter NOW!

Yesterday I was driving down Superior probably around the 40′s somewhere and I spotted this incredible wall mural. The colors were awesome against the gray stone wall, the organic nature of the abstract floral shapes seemed to dance in the sunshine. I had to pull over and snap a few shots to share. MORE! →

  Cleveland FLEA

Morning CLE! How is everybody doing today post Tribe Opening Day antics? We were so lucky to have such great weather. While I still wore a few layers just in case, there were many rocking the tank top and “jorts” (jean shorts!) look at the stadium…it’s still April people, I’m just sayin.

Anyhow. It’s been a few wild and crazy weeks over here. Slammin jammin at work, lots of company in town, the Film Fest (get your tickets for this weekend it’s gonna be crazy packed!) planning a home remodel and a vacation…bring it on!

Have you heard about the Cleveland flea? Well from what I know it’s a great place to score some sweet vintage finds on the second Saturday of each month. Lots of great vendors coming together  in the St Clair Superior neighborhood looking to offer you a special find for your home or that unique spring accessory. There are artisan food vendors, people who make stuff and a great vibe for our city. It’s happening THIS SATURDAY morning and you should for sure check it out. For details check out their facebook page!

So enjoy the rest of this weeks nice weather. Happy spring Cleveland, happy finds at the FLEA!

  CLE in Oprah!

It is always to my surprise and excitement when the people of the CLE get national GREAT press; and from Oprah no less.

Congratulations goes out to Mansfield Frazier and his friends over at Chateau Hough for the inspiring and motivating article about their urban vineyards in the center of the city. This garden produces grapes from over 289 vines which in turn make many bottles of vino; my type of entreprenuer.

For the entire story, volunteer opportunities and more visit the Neighborhood Solutions website where they have a PDF of the article! CLE a place that makes things, where people are visionaries and stuff get’s done! Keep up the great work everybody. :)

  100 Days in Cleveland

A few weeks ago I was thrilled to receive Julia Kuo’s email. She explained to me how she was setting out for the ultimate self challenge…to draw, sketch or paint something she likes about Cleveland for the next 100 Days. I had to check it out.

Can I tell you how giddy I was when I saw her work? Stunning. The beauty in the every day details. The sunshine and shadows. The special nuances about a building, an outdoor space, a nook. She truly is such a gem to our city and one talented force to be reckoned with.

Julia, congratulations, this is going to be an amazing project for you and for our city. I can’t wait to check in from time to time on your progress. Good luck!

(I chose to share her illustrations of Root Cafe & Blackbird Bakery, because they are two of MY most frequented places in town!)

  Happy Sunshine!

Happy Monday Cleveland! Wasn’t this weekend AMAZING? Holy cow, such great weather,  Asian Fest, bike rides, planting tomatoes, herbs and flowers, margaritas with friends, a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and pizzas on the grille…it felt like SUMMER!

Summer in Cleveland is a breathe of fresh air, the sky opens up painting a fresh blue hue to shine down on our earth. Over the weekend I saw convertibles cruising around town, I saw many a maxi dress, people out and about waving and smiling and welcoming summer to Northeast Ohio…life is grand!

This week (although they are forecasting a bit more rain) take a few moments to pack away the sweaters and boots and gather your fun summer accessories (bike, beach towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.). This summer is gonna be great, after a soggy spring, we totally deserve it!

(Thanks to Erin for sharing her pictures of this kind act of public art found at Edgewater State Park. These installations are simple yet stunning, bold, bright and welcoming of summer. LOVE them!)

  Accessorize for the APL (08/20)

Friday, August 20th,2010

I received this press release, and although I don’t usually just report the information, I am returning from a long work trip and must get you-the readers some great around town happenings…so here goes it!!!!

The Market Avenue Wine Bar in Ohio City will host jewelry artists red i jewelry, Gai Russo and Deborah Woolfork for a stylish event that puts as much emphasis in doing good as looking good.

The three highly regarded artists, each of whom have a large following for their hand-crafted jewelry, will be launching their fall collections during the event, scheduled from 6pm to 10pm

Throughout the evening, raffle tickets will be sold for a grand prize, a grouping of three necklaces, one from each artist, all of which were specially designed to layer with one another (a $350 value). Ticket prices are $5, or three for $10. The drawing is at 10pm. One hundred percent of the raffle proceeds will be donated to the Cleveland Animal Protective League, with the specific intent to purchase spay and neuter supplies for its animal welfare clinic.

“It’s a win-win situation,” says Susan Scaparotti of red i jewelry. “A summer night of drinking great wine, buying great jewelry and donating to a great cause.”

  Summer weekend!

How did it get to August already? Weren’t we just planning our afternoon trips to the beach? Or what we’d pack on our evening picnic? Well, not to worry, we still have all of August and most of September keep up warm and enjoying the Cleveland outdoors.

This weekend what are you doing? So many great area events it makes me wish I could be in two places at once.
This weekend, not too be missed…

> Artists from all over Ohio will meet to sell their work in Lakewood…check out the Grey Cardigan pop up shop!
> E.T lands at Huntington Beach, while Dorothy and the munchkins take over Playhouse Square.
> A memorial show to our dear Cleveland friend, Harvey Pekar at the Beachland Ballroom.
> Grab your bike and take an evening ice cream ride to your best neighborhood ice cream shop!
> Cheers on our area athletes at this years Cleveland Triathlon.
> I’ve been craving a crepe, a pot of french press and the Sunday morning paper in the city.
> A big street bash in the Warehouse District!
> Rent a kayak and paddle through the Rocky River to keep cool!
> How about a $5 Mojito to ring in the new week?
Well, whatever your weekend has in store for you, make sure you are happy, healthy and surrounded by those you love. Happy iheartcleveland weekend!
