1-tank trip : Columbus
This past weekend I had the opportunity to take a Saturday, 1-tank trip to Columbus. The skies were bright blue and while 71S was swarming with police cars we managed to make it there in just over two hours with no stops.
We arrived to a quiet Columbus starting our morning with breakfast at North Star Cafe on High Street. Not only was the breakfast yummy, the unlimited magazines and people watching was even better. After breakfast we headed to the new Rothko exhibit at the Columbus Museum of Art. It was awesome, a three room intensive on the life of the artist and how his works once more figurative morphed into intense color studies. Also along with the Rothko exhibit there is this fascinating exhibit of Czech puppets on display in the other galleries, almost as cool as Rothko, but also sorta creepy. You have to check it out!

Winter weekend

Happy Friday CLEV-kids! It’s been the conversation topic of the week…”It’s so cold outside!” Perhaps some of you saw this picture I took yesterday through instagram (@charity216) while lunching at my favorite lunch spot; Pier W but for those of you who didn’t I had to share. The sun was out and we had a window spot which is the best seat in the house. The entire meal I was mesmerized by the flaky chunks of ice and snow that glistened on the lake. The shores of Lake Erie looked like Antarctica glaciers…I wish there were little penguins waddling down Edgewater Beach this time of year…wouldn’t that be so cute? I digress…
Anyhow, I know I’ve said it before but just a reminder on how great Pier W is for a lunch meet up, free parking, lots of sunshine, an amazing view of the city and oh, for all your resolution diet’s…the South Beach Salad is the best! Happy Friday and stay warm friends.

happy weekend
Hey there, what a stunning example of a sunny summer day! It’s gonna be a great weekend weather-wise and there is so much happening around town…here are a few ideas for your weekend planning.
Tonight kicks off the annual Weapons of Mass Creation design conference and music festival. Get your weekend pass now to see unique bands, hear area creative speaker..s.don’t miss “Mr. Johnny Cupcakes” himself speak Saturday evening 7-7:45 on the importance of developing a great brand…if you have a t-shirt wear it. On Sunday make sure you go hear words of creative wisdom from my friend and fellow creative Brian Jasinski of Grey Cardigan! As an inpiring designer, you also might want to check out the “Ask the Pro’s” table on Sunday from noon to 2pm…you never know who will be there reviewing work…wink wink!
Another creative city explosion will be this years 23rd Annual Parade the Circle taking place Saturday from 11-4pm in University Circle. This eclectic gathering and celebration of the arts is one not to be missed.
Another fun and quirky happening that you might think is fun is the annual Spirit of Cleveland Airstream rally at Burke Lakefront Airport. Come and check out over 50 historic Airstream trailers parked in the “silver city.” (Friday & Saturday)
Looking to get your 5K run on, this new race looks so great. The Pier W Copper River Salmon 5K Run takes place Saturday (mid)morning and cumulates on the upper desk of Pier W. Really cool thing, your race entry fee covers a full lunch provided by the restaurant. It is going to be a great day for a run and lunch…sign up early as spots are limited
And then don’t forget there is always the beach at the Lake, bike rides through the city, patios galore! So much to do…it’s gonna be a wild creative weekend in Cleveland.

Absolutely awesome!
Happy November 1st Clev-pals. Where has this year gone? Can you believe we are in the beginning of holiday season? I heart this time of year so very much. The pumpkins, the fall colors, the crunchy leaves, the smell of cinnamon, I can go on and on.
The other day, the sky was blue, the air was crisp and I found myself wandering through a rather quiet Cleveland street. Admiring the sunshine I gazed up and discovered another example of amazing Cleveland artwork…history.
Can you guess where this “absolutley fireproof” building artwork is? Hint, perhaps you’ve had coffee somewhere close by?
And while I’m loving fall, loving November and feeling extra in love with my city, I want to thank you today for taking time out of your day to read this blog. Sometimes you forget to tell people how much you care…so thanks. If I can ever be of help to you don’t hesitate to shout!

Fall (leaf) “peeping”
“Leaf peeping” is an informal term commonly used for those of us who travel to see the stunning fall foliage. (In Japan they also have a similar term called momijigari.)
In spite of the chilly weekend drizzle, the week ahead is supposed to clear up. Thank goodness! The sun will shine, the earth will dry out and the leaves from our tall, strong, Ohio trees will begin to turn. Hey Clevelanders, you up for a bit of “peeping” this weekend? Enjoy!
