  Chillin’

Hey guys, did you know it’s supposed to reach almost 74 degree’s today? Crazy nice summer weather but it might just be time to click on that AC to keep your home and ride chill…

This is another shot from by cruise down Superior Ave the other evening, the hand lettering and bold colors pulled me in. Made me wonder about who designed that sign and the Clevelanders who painted it…because it’s awesome. As a designer I tend to gravitate towards modern, clean and simple signs and such. However with this sign the retro charm, the funky type and the no fuss design is super impressive, i heart it. Next time you need an expert air conditioning service, you should totally take a ride Brunkow’s…if nothing else than to check out the sign! Keep cool Cleveland, and GO TRIBE!

Cheers to Friday everybody. Thanks to my friend for sharing all the fun new photo filters with me the other night…I am excited to explore all the fun “quick fix” possibilities to a very standard shot.   Absolutely awesome!

Happy November 1st Clev-pals. Where has this year gone? Can you believe we are in the beginning of holiday season? I heart this time of year so very much. The pumpkins, the fall colors, the crunchy leaves, the smell of cinnamon, I can go on and on.

The other day, the sky was blue, the air was crisp and I found myself wandering through a rather quiet Cleveland street. Admiring the sunshine I gazed up and discovered another example of amazing Cleveland artwork…history.

Can you guess where this “absolutley fireproof” building artwork is? Hint, perhaps you’ve had coffee somewhere close by?

And while I’m loving fall, loving November and feeling extra in love with my city, I want to thank you today for taking time out of your day to read this blog. Sometimes you forget to tell people how much you care…so thanks. If I can ever be of help to you don’t hesitate to shout!

  Vintage (CLE) friday

Sometimes when it is all rainy and yucky, my thrift/antique store addiction wants to kick in. While they are calling for sun tomorrow (fingers crossed) if it is another rainy day you’ll find me scouring old pictures, great vintage clothing and retro housewares.

For some reason milling through the past and discovering new ways to style the antique into my 2011 life is a fun and challenging adventure, perfect activity for any rainy day!

Check out these pics I found online at UrbanOhio.com that site is filled with lots of vintage finds! Go explore. Happy FRIDAY!

  People Portraits!

Don’t miss out on this very entertaining act of public art. Friday is Tremont’s monthly Art Walk and what better way to kick off the evening. Wonder if the gang at Aperture would mind if I brought my dog? Can’t wait, see you there!

  Hopeless (Art Museum) Romantics…CONTEST!

Lately it’s been one press release after another, and although I do try and post everything that pertains to this blog and the readers…as a hopeless romantic, this one made me smile so I had to share.

“The Cleveland Museum of Art’s beautiful grounds have long been one of  the city’s most popular destinations for wedding photographs. Beginning this Valentines Day, the public is invited to submit a photograph taken on museum grounds from their own, or a relative’s wedding day or commitment ceremony and be entered to win a romantic weekend for two in University Circle. Select photographs will be included in the museum’s archives as well as on the museum’s blog and Facebook page.”

The project begins Monday the 14th with the prize drawing on March 14, 2011. 9The museum will continue to accept photographs to add to the Wedding Picture Project after the closing date, but those submissions will not be included in the drawing.

I hope that some of you will enter. I’m sure there have to be a handful of newlyweds out there that read this blog and could send along some sweet digital pics!

To enter and for more prize details visit the museums website.

P.S. While I don’t know the gorgeous bride in the image above, the photo was taken by Finest Moments Creative Photography. They have a lot of great wedding shots on their site.

  a new Blog Friend

So I “met” this new blogger a week or so ago and thought perhaps some of you might like to follow his photography blog….“How’s the Salmon.”

A young photographer, entrepreneur and sneaker collector, Carlos was born and raised in Lorain and currently resides in Elyria, OH. “I’ve been coming to Cleveland for various events, shopping or to experience the restaurants for as long as I can remember” commented Carlos.

After exploring his site, I had to get to know this guy a bit better, so I asked “Mr. How’s the Salmon” a few questions…

Where did the name of your site come from?
“It’s really and inside joke with my friend from high school. We decided to have a mini reunion at Great Lakes Brewery, and we all agreed on bar food (fries, burgers, etc.) and well out of nowhere, one of my friends turns to the waitress and asked “How’s the Salmon?” and we all started to laugh hysterically (You kind of had to be there, but coming from where we’re from, and growing up how we did, you’d understand why we found it so funny)”

As a sneaker conisseour, what’s your favorite pair of sneakers?
“This is a question I get often yet still struggle on an answer. I have to say, it’s hard to pick just one. I’ll say my two favorites are, my Air Jordan Aqua VIII’s and my Air Jordan True Blue III’s.”

Please share one of your pictures of Cleveland with the iheartcleveland readers.
(photo above) “This picture of Lake Erie, I think some people may not realize how great the lake can be (especially due to lake effect snow) but in the summer, relaxing and watching the sun set is one of the best things to do.”

Thanks Carlos for sharing your images, your insight and your blog to me. I hope others find it as fun and unique as I did.

  BARk for Cleveland!

Congrats to Cleveland photographer Regina Strauss for her adorable shot that was published in this months BARk Magazine. This adorable shot of her family pet Zoey warmed the hearts of the art directors and found it’s way to the inside table of contents page. A true photographers dream.

Regi shoots weddings, children and obviously adorable pet shots too. Check out her work on her facebook page (under the photos tabs) as her new website is being completed. She is super talented and we are lucky to have her living among the creative Cleveland class.  Congrats Reg!
