  weekend fun

Looking for fun stuff to do this weekend? I have two especially sweet things you might want to check out..

First is the monthly Friday night “MIXup : Apocalypse” event at the Cleveland Museum of Art. The event begins at 5 with cocktails, music, art and an opportunity to explore the current exhibitions. Starting at 7 the Theater Ninjas will present their first CMA performance of The Excavation, an interactive theatrical examination of the life, death and resurrection of Pompeii. This apocalyptic event continues at 8:45 p.m. with the live electronic beats of the headline act, Teengirl Fantasy, the Oberlin graduate duo who Interview Magazine notes “know how to carve a danceable moment and hold onto it for a seven-minute song and a whole set.”  So bust out your best Warhol-artsy-party-pants and get your groove on Friday night at CMA.

On Sunday (after you get all your Saturday errands done) head over to Chagrin Yoga for a special workshop presented by Dave Romanelli on yoga and CHOCOLATE! I’ve taken a few classes from the traveling guru before, not only is his music spot-on, his wise words and suggestions enhance my practice and my heart. This weekends class not only features a chocolate treat at the end of the two-hour journey, it also open your mind and your intentions on being especially more present in your every day activities. For more information or to sign up give Chagrin Yoga a ring today, spots are filling up.

Happy ALMOST weekend!

  easter candy around town.

hello Cleveland! Thanks goodness for this lovely sunshine, because seriously I don’t want to admit it…but this chilly weather and gray clouds stuff is making me grouchy. Gasp!

I am so thankful for a long weekend. I am thrilled to be spending time with my Cleveland friend-family over a nice spring dinner. Excited to put on every pastel color and head out dressed like an Easter egg! Fingers crossed for more traditional spring-like weather for this Easter weekend celebration. (If we all put our wishes together I am hoping for sunshine.)

Now, on to the sweet stuff! This weekend is traditionally the holiday filled with peeps, jelly belly’s and Cadbury Eggs…but this year I was trying to buy from just my local-faves, so here we go.

1) Easter wouldn’t be Easter in Cleveland without the family hot spot, Malley’s. I love all the foil wrapped eggs in various shades of pink, gold and silver…caramel and cherry are a delight…these are also great for splitting with a friend. For this year, they are also featuring the peanut butter bunny. It’s really good…I just bit his head off to try it, yumm.

2) Looking for a few special chocolates to impress your favorite “chick?” Nothing beats the sweet treats of Tremont’s Lilly’s Chocolates. Their pistachio and “Old School” truffles are rich and will hit the spot after your spring feast.

3) Have you been to Sweet Moses yet? So much more than just ice cream, this little darling sells confections like no others. Their salted caramel, macadamia white chocolate and ritz cracker chocolate cups  are an adult Easter basket in and of themselves. Looking for something for the little rabbits? Kids are flocking to their “birthday cake” bark made of white choclate and “jimmies.”

So, have a great, sweet, Easter weekend! May the Easter treat bunny come hopping down your lane.

Oh, I almost forgot…congrats to Emily Lauren for commenting and winning the tickets to tomorrow nights big Sake & Art event at the Cleveland Museum of Art! Have fun Emily!

  Exquisite Chocolates

As we strolled the streets of Tremont we discovered a new city gem that I can’t resist sharing!

First off…who couldn’t fall in love with a store who’s tagline is…”Specializing in making your mouth dance?”

Lilly Handmade Chocolates designs unique chocolates from only the freshest ingredients, no preservatives, no artificial flavors. Just the good stuff! They are made on premise with French & Belgian covertures, locally roasted nuts and much love, of course!

Some of the flavors I can’t wait to treat myself too would be The Heather (cayenne pepper & dark chocolate), The Southern Gentleman (Makers Mark Bourbon, buttered pecans & milk chocolate) and The Intense Orange (blood orange juice & dark chocolate).

Stop by Lilly on the 2nd Friday of each month for the Tremont Art Walk as they stay open until 10pm! For directions, hours and other flavors visit www.lillytremont.com
