Last night I attended the Petittis Garden Center in Avons Holiday Open House. It was mobbed. Seriously people, already scooping up ornaments (buy two get one free) shopping for outdoor lights, wreaths and more. There were so many people they had parking lot attendants directing traffic. The thing I thought was so cool was the magical talking tree. I was going to snap the picture and the tree lady said to me “ooohhh, are you taking my picture? Let me smile real big for you!” I looked around as if I was dreaming, instantly being transformed into when I was a little kid. The excitement and joy of a singing tree? I can’t stand it. You’ve got to stop by their Holiday Open House weekend (at all locations) and see for yourself. Super cool!
Can you believe the “Speakeasy,” in the basement of Bier Market has been opened for a year now? Stop in Saturday night to the swanky underground culinary cocktail lounge as they will be celebrating their one year anniversary. Featuring a brand new fall/winter cocktail menu they will have DJ Go spinning the beats all night long.

Craving a french pastry or two? (I am.) This years Cleveland Magazine “Best of Cleveland” Coquette Patisserie is bringing an extra-special treat to Saturday mornings Shaker Market. A pecan tart laced with chocolate, coffee, and whisky. They’re calling it “Drivin’ Me Nuts”! It’s definitely not yo mamma’s pecan pie. PLUS, they sell all sorts of macaroons , they are light as air, they almost melt in your mouth.
Who said “Human beings are the only creatures that allow their children to come back home” or “Gray hair is God’s graffiti?” yes, you guessed it , the funky sweater wearing Mr. Bill Cosby. Feel like hearing him speak? Looking for a good laugh or two? Saturday night, Bill will be doing stand up at the Akron Civic Center. Tickets are still available.
This weekend the Cleveland Museum of Natural History will unveil it’s latest exhibit “Extreme Mammals.” I think this sounds like the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon, dodging the sleet, rain snow mixture while exploring all the interesting species the museum has to offer. The Biggest, Smallest and Most Amazing Mammals of All Time will be visiting Cleveland through April.
What else is everyone doing this weekend in Cleveland…besides staying warm?
