  Loving Limelight; a co-working space

Hey CLE friends. How was your long holiday weekends? I feel like so many of you were off all last week. From the looks of your feeds, you got in some serious sunshine, lake time, friend time and lots of grilling and cocktailing! GO SUMMER!

For the past three weeks, I have been battling with some serious poison ivy stuff. I went to the doctor and they put me on a high dosage of prednisone (steroids) and that put my poor body into a tailspin. I haven’t been able to concentrate, sleep, form thoughtful sentences, and man have I been irritable…these meds are no joke. Anyhow, last week I had, had enough and stopped taking the steroid all together….come to find out is also a bad solution. Your body needs to slowly come down; aka withdrawal itself from these drugs but I just couldn’t do them anymore and then my body got really mad at me. My face swelled for a few days (thank god for bangs) and now it’s my hands. I swear, when something goes wrong I totally realize how I take my health and wellness for granted. I am a strong, rather healthy individual but these last few weeks I have felt totally out of control; helpless in my own skin. I see the light at the end of the tunnel but man, if you ever get prescribed that drug I would totally recommend trying anything you can do to not take it. It’s bad sh*t! (now onto my story)

So many of you may or may not know that I own a branding and packaging design firm called studio Chartreuse. For over fifteen years we have collaborated with start-up entrepreneurs as well as larger manufacturing, institutional and nonprofit clients. We have a very creative studio space located on the west side of Lakewood on Madison Ave. that is filled daily with tons of sunshine and groovy tunes. I love the space we have created including our outdoor mini “petite parc” space where our clients and friends like to come and brainstorm, have coffee or rosé and just connect face to face. We swap out the artwork and switch out furniture to keep the space feeling high style and relevant, it keeps us all excited and engaged to come to work. This summer we wanted to get out more into the community, do a little work off-site now and then. Keeping our workflow fresh and exciting while super productive during the summer months…enter Michelle of Limelight.

Michelle reached out to me a few months ago about their new co-work space; Limelight. While I was interested, I didn’t really have an immediate need for workspace. As our summer flex time rolled around I thought it would be the perfect place to explore and spend the day working from…and off we went.

First off, can I just say this new work space is GORGEOUS! It’s not your average cubicle, office furniture hub. It’s a work destination filled with bold colors, incredible patterns, little nooks for creative collaborations and conversations while also offering spaces for small and medium meetings including teleconferencing needs. It is boho chic while offering the latest and greatest in technology for entrepreneurs, and fellow small businesses. Limelight is located in Ohio City just off West 25trh on Jay Ave. That morning I met our team at Limelight and we spent the day developing new branding, meeting with a potential new client and brainstorming on a new packaging initiative. While Lakewood has a handful of fun lunch spots, we loved being close to all of the West 25th action and had lunch at Town Hall. In the afternoon we enjoyed the hustle and bustle energy of the other co-workers in the space and a great coffee from the limelight bar..they also have Great Lakes on tap! If you are looking for the perfect co-work space for you, give Michelle a call and she can explain all of their membership options. You never know…you might even see me there from time to time because…it’s just so chic and inspiring. Nice job guys, Limelight has a little piece of my heart! I heart Limelight!

Lilly Pulitzer at Lovely Paperie & Gifts

Last month my friend Kate invited me to be part of her first annual Lilly Pulitzer fashion show and to say I was honored is an understatement. As a big Lilly fan and lover of everything bright hued and pattern-covered I immediately jumped at the fun opportunity to hang out with some of my favorite Cleveland ladies, get all dolled up and decked out in Ms. Pulitzer and hang out in Kate’s truly “Lovely” store for the evening.

At Lovely Paperie & Gifts they have a complete in-store boutique filled with all things Lilly Pulitzer. From party maxi dresses to work appropriate shirt dresses…from silk blouses to weekend workout clothes…from dresses for your kiddos to tunics for your mom; Lovely is your west side Lilly destination!

Thanks to all of my gal pals who stopped in for the evening of fashion fun. I love the photo of me and Shibani Faehnle (above) captured by the talented photographer Kailey Marie of Kailey Marie Photography. Also, thanks to Mr. C for surprising me and stopping by with NinjaM for the after-party!

(all of my fellow Lilly Pulitzer lovers!)

Next generation of Women; presented by the Sherwin-Williams Co.

Hey friends. Happy Monday. Wasn’t last Friday’s weather so wonderful? Everyone had their car windows rolled down and was smiling and happy…fingers crossed we get more of those spring temps soon.

Today I want to invite all of you to join me this Thursday at the Engage Cleveland’s signature event called “Next Generation of Women.”
Navigating your career and personal life in your 20s & 30s can be rough..I mean even in my (early) 40’s it’s challenging. But we are lucky enough to have Engage Cleveland who carefully crafted a women’s forum tailored to the emerging female professional in Cleveland.

Unlike your typical women in leadership event, they’ve created a half-day experience consisting of nothing but professional and personal advice to help guide the up-and-coming women in Cleveland, featuring some of the area’s most noteworthy female professionals across all industries. A few of the topics they are going to cover are : What do you want to be known for? (by my friend Lisa Zone!) How to prioritize your personal, civic and professional responsibilities? and How to effectively make decisions to navigate your career and personal life. Plus many more interesting topics.

I hope to see many of you this Thursday. I plan to take lots of notes, to be energized and inspired! I will also be insta-storying while I am thereso tune in for lots of fun stuff! If you want to get yourself a ticket they still have a few available to purchase. Visit their Eventbrite page here for the details.

  Kendra Scott : You’re invited!

Hey friends! I am so excited and honored to be hosting an evening at the new Kendra Scott store in Eton. Please join me and their very fun team Wednesday night, April 25 from 6-8pm for some bubbly a few sweet treats and most importantly the new 2018 summer collection. OMG…the purple earrings!!!

All guests will receive 15% off your purchase. It is the perfect time to get your Mothers’ Day or spring graduation gifts covered for all the stylish ladies in your life. I gotta say, I am a big fan of this national jewelry brand. I love her more trend-focused collections and can’t wait to see what else she has designed for the entire summer look. PLUS, I can’t wait to check out her new candle line..of course I am a sucker for great packaging and a fresh scent.

Although the brand today is pretty recognizable, did you know Kendra started off in 2002 as an entrepreneur with a small start-up investment in her spare bedroom? It is such a great story of one Mom’s use of her creativity and passion for gemstones that made the store what it is today.

I am really looking forward to visiting and hanging out with the new team. I hope you can swing by and visit, they have a pretty great night planned for us! Sweets, surprises and shopping…sounds like a fun way to spend a Wednesday evening with your friends. Hope to see you there!

  KP Photo Show & Sale

Hello, friends and happy Easter & Passover week to all who celebrate! Today was a gorgeous sunny day, don’t you think? I had busted out some springtime style and was super inspired by all of the Easter candy and baskets currently found everywhere. With that said…it looks as if it might rain for the rest of the week so I am totally working on my fashion plan of attack, complete with raincoats, wellies, and cute umbrellas. It’s almost April and what do they say? April showers bring May flowers…I don’t think anyone will complain about a plethora of flowers as we roll into a Cleveland summer…so we continue to wait for more sunshine and warm weather.

Today I am here to give you a fun PSA on one of my favorite, biennial arts events, the KP Photo 2018 Fine Art Show. The weekend of April 27th-28th, join the entire team of artists at KP, for the 7th biennial Fine Arts Show. For these two nights see KP’s studio turn into a chic, city gallery exhibition that will feature more than 400 fine art creations for sale, including photography, paintings, illustrations, and installations. Plus, a portion of the sale will be donated to Flashes of Hope so you for sure want to attend and purchase!

If you have never been to “KP” let me tell you a bit about this very cool and super talented group of individuals. KP is predominantly a commercial photography studio, who also excels in CGI (computer-generated imagery,) retouching, and video production serving clients locally and across the country. My role as a creative director and designer first brought me to KP for a client photography project and the rest was history, I’ve loved them ever since. The photography team is so helpful in bringing our designer/client ideas to life, their support staff ensures the project goes smoothly from beginning to end and the team doing the post-production work makes my job of actually using the photos so dreamy.

So now that you know a bit about them…one thing you might not know is while I am bragging about their role as a design partner, these creative individuals also have additional artistic interests outside of their daily work routine. Not only are they photographers but they are also printmakers, painters, sculptures, collage artists and more.

For exact event details and images of the 2016 show, visit their site. I really can’t wait to attend. I promise it is such a good time…and for those of you not really into gallery openings, I have three words for you…Unlimited. Photo. Booth! Hope to see everyone there. Happy art opening KP friends, we wouldn’t miss it for the world.
