  GVEAWAY : Explore Pinecrest + $100

Hello friends! Happy friday! Do you have lots of fun plans for the weekend? I can’t believe kids are headed back to school over the next few weeks. Summer was filled with awesome adventures but I am always left wanting so much more. With that said, I seriously LOVE fall in Ohio so I am getting pumped for new sweaters, boots and tight season!

Speaking of fall clothes….Have you been out to explore the new east-side shopping destination…Pinecrest…as of yet? I went the other day and I gotta say…SUPER impressive. The new development is close to our house so I can totally see it becoming a “go to” on our shopping circuit for sure. Whole foods is opening at the end of the month, Warby Parker is opening THIS WEEKEND and the movie theatre is the perfect date night hot spot. It’s pretty cool!

A friend of mine and I went out to the new development the other evening to get a pedicure, shop a bit and have a glass of wine. It’s as the perfect set up for a successful girls night out. We started by getting pedicures at the new Zen Salon. This salon is so bright and clean that I highly recommend checking it out. The staff welcomed us into the new space and gave us the best sugar scrub a girl could ask for…complete with OPI shine nailpolish for the win! Thanks, Zen…I will for sure be back.

From there I wanted to buy a new “green” fry pan set from William Sonoma. This new store is gorgeous…the floors alone are enough to make you stop and swoon. The staff was super helpful in explaining to me all about this new cooking technology and I was immediately sold on the product. Plus…in between shopping I snacked on some sample bakery and refreshing lemon water…such a pleasant shopping experience.

I also had wanted to look at what REI had in stock with regards to new yoga pants for fall. This new store just makes you want to get off the couch and go take a hike outdoors. They offer everything from actually hiking equipment, boots, and clothing to the de-hydrated snacks you will need to make your outdoor adventures enjoyable. They also offer a series of workshops and how-to’s …if you are planning to spend some time outside this fall, swing by the new REI and let their sales team get you all geared up!

After those two stores, it was time to grab a little late night dinner and wine. I had heard good things about the new Pinstripes Bowling, Bocce and bistro so I was pretty pumped to give it a try. For real you guys, it is really nice. There is something for everyone to do; the bowling lanes are really nice and the bocce is very super cool. The menu was full of seasonal options including our fig & prosciutto flatbreads, calamari and summer salad. And lastly…the wine list had so many options it was hard to choose just one. Pinstripes also offers brunch and if you are looking for a place to host a party, they would be a great option for any fun gathering!

  Welcome Cantina Laredo!

Hey friends! Hope you had a wonderful summer weekend with your friends & fam. I love summer CLE weekends but honestly by the time I sit down and prep for the week ahead…I am beat.

We went to see the Tribe play on Friday night which consisted of us hanging out in the Kids Clubhouse area for most of the game. Parents, if you’ve never been to the Kids Clubhouse it is a BLAST for the little ones and a good escape for us parents too…LOVE the air conditioning, the phone charging stations and the mini, kid-friendly restrooms for the littles! On Saturday we went to the West Side Market for some grilling food, had some friends over to the pool and then went to see Carlos Jones perform at Shaker Square. Sunday we celebrated a friends birthday, played some pinball, explored a bit of contemporary art of Front Triennial at the Weltzheimer/Johnson House in Oberlin and then topped off the weekend by visiting our Oberlin friends. Another fun-filled CLE weekend for sure!

Have you been to Crocker Park recently? Seen the newest dining destination, Cantina Laredo? OMG, it’s really great. We went for lunch last week and we were truly blown away by everything from the decor, to the service and most of all the food and drinks.

I started lunch with a “Cabo Flip” which is a fresh lime margarita with Cabo Wabo Reposado and Grand Marnier Liqueur with a lime boat full of tequila. Then we had homemade, table-side guacamole and freshly-made, warm tortilla chips. We had a handful of apps including these incredible, individual nachos where each nacho is made up of every ingredient so you get every nacho ingredient in each bite; so good. We also had these mini tuna tacos which honestly would make a perfect quick lunch all by themselves.

For the main lunch entree, we had Cameron Poblano Asada which was shrimp, mushroom, jack cheese stuffed poblano pepper wrapped with a fire-charred skirt steak with chimichurri sauce, charred street corn and cilantro lime rice. This was a great sharing-entree and totally over-the-top but also so, so decadent.

To wrap it all up, we had Mexican Apple Pie which was served to our table bubbling with brandy butter and cinnamon ice cream…DECADENT!

I know I told you a bunch about the food…but the interiors are very chic as well. Lots of patterned tiles, painted blocks, modern-nuevo upholstery and lots of great outdoor light flooding inside the space. Plus, they had an awesome patio which is the perfect Crocker escape at lunchtime, happy hour or after a summer blockbuster at the movie theatre. This modern Mexican restaurant has a handful of locations in Florida and down south but they are slowly making their way up North and I am happy they have come to our neighborhood. Welcome you guys!

So…the moral of this story is…if you find yourself out at Crocker Park and want to try out something that is really yummy check out the new Cantina Laredo.

Have a great week, talk more soon. Happy new, modern Mexican to all! Cheers Cleveland.

DANCE CLE presents AMERICAN DANCE FESTIVAL

“The one thing that can solve most of our problems is dancing!” -James Brown

Growing up I LOVED to dance. Shocker right? I was a toddler in a tutu, a tween tapping the blackberry boogie and in high school AND college, I practiced my show choir jazz hands dance moves like nobody’s business. Let’s just say I was a dancing fool.

So obviously I still twitch and tap my toes everytime I hear a good beat. To say I have a soft, spot in my soul for live music and live dance performances would be an understatement. So when DANCE Cleveland dropped me a note about their upcoming celebration of dance I wanted all the details to share with all of you!

Northeast Ohio’s premiere dance presenter, DANCECleveland, is proud to bring back its second-annual summer dance festival in Cleveland. This 10-Day festival offers fun dance experiences for every aspiring (& total wanna be’s) ranging from novices to dance aficionados.

  Loving Limelight; a co-working space

Hey CLE friends. How was your long holiday weekends? I feel like so many of you were off all last week. From the looks of your feeds, you got in some serious sunshine, lake time, friend time and lots of grilling and cocktailing! GO SUMMER!

For the past three weeks, I have been battling with some serious poison ivy stuff. I went to the doctor and they put me on a high dosage of prednisone (steroids) and that put my poor body into a tailspin. I haven’t been able to concentrate, sleep, form thoughtful sentences, and man have I been irritable…these meds are no joke. Anyhow, last week I had, had enough and stopped taking the steroid all together….come to find out is also a bad solution. Your body needs to slowly come down; aka withdrawal itself from these drugs but I just couldn’t do them anymore and then my body got really mad at me. My face swelled for a few days (thank god for bangs) and now it’s my hands. I swear, when something goes wrong I totally realize how I take my health and wellness for granted. I am a strong, rather healthy individual but these last few weeks I have felt totally out of control; helpless in my own skin. I see the light at the end of the tunnel but man, if you ever get prescribed that drug I would totally recommend trying anything you can do to not take it. It’s bad sh*t! (now onto my story)

So many of you may or may not know that I own a branding and packaging design firm called studio Chartreuse. For over fifteen years we have collaborated with start-up entrepreneurs as well as larger manufacturing, institutional and nonprofit clients. We have a very creative studio space located on the west side of Lakewood on Madison Ave. that is filled daily with tons of sunshine and groovy tunes. I love the space we have created including our outdoor mini “petite parc” space where our clients and friends like to come and brainstorm, have coffee or rosé and just connect face to face. We swap out the artwork and switch out furniture to keep the space feeling high style and relevant, it keeps us all excited and engaged to come to work. This summer we wanted to get out more into the community, do a little work off-site now and then. Keeping our workflow fresh and exciting while super productive during the summer months…enter Michelle of Limelight.

Michelle reached out to me a few months ago about their new co-work space; Limelight. While I was interested, I didn’t really have an immediate need for workspace. As our summer flex time rolled around I thought it would be the perfect place to explore and spend the day working from…and off we went.

First off, can I just say this new work space is GORGEOUS! It’s not your average cubicle, office furniture hub. It’s a work destination filled with bold colors, incredible patterns, little nooks for creative collaborations and conversations while also offering spaces for small and medium meetings including teleconferencing needs. It is boho chic while offering the latest and greatest in technology for entrepreneurs, and fellow small businesses. Limelight is located in Ohio City just off West 25trh on Jay Ave. That morning I met our team at Limelight and we spent the day developing new branding, meeting with a potential new client and brainstorming on a new packaging initiative. While Lakewood has a handful of fun lunch spots, we loved being close to all of the West 25th action and had lunch at Town Hall. In the afternoon we enjoyed the hustle and bustle energy of the other co-workers in the space and a great coffee from the limelight bar..they also have Great Lakes on tap! If you are looking for the perfect co-work space for you, give Michelle a call and she can explain all of their membership options. You never know…you might even see me there from time to time because…it’s just so chic and inspiring. Nice job guys, Limelight has a little piece of my heart! I heart Limelight!
