The Mughal Exhibit at the CMA!

Hello & happy “Monday” to you! Hope your long weekend was spent with family and friends and you were able to get outside and enjoy the incredible last few official days of summer.

We are finally getting settled into our new house and everyday it feels more and more like home. We hung some curtains, explored a few new neighborhoods parks, had a couple of friends over, did some grilling and a handful of other home projects and before I knew it the weekend was over. How were your long weekends? From the looks of instagram and such, you all look like you took in many of the Cleveland special weekend happenings…Air Show, Metroparks, Lake Erie, lots of patio drinking, Indians games and more. Thanks for always sharing your awesome photos with all of us, it’s so fun to follow along on your weekend adventures.

Today I want to share with you about the incredible exhibit that is going on now through October 23d at the Cleveland Museum of Art…The Art & Stories from Mughal India. This exhibit is both stunning and truly educational, I seriously need to go back so I can spend more time getting lost into each and every detail of the artwork.

I loved what the Art Museum wrote as a description of the exhibit… “The centennial exhibition  focuses on four stories—an epic, a fable, a mystic romance, and a sacred biography—embedded within the overarching story of the Mughals themselves as told through 100 paintings drawn from the Cleveland Museum of Art’s world-class holdings. Rounding out the exhibition is a selection of costumes, textiles, jewelry, arms and armor, architectural elements, and decorative arts on loan from museums across the country.”

To learn more about each piece of work in the exhibit, the museum has put together their first, exhibit-specific app to use as you move through the exhibit.  Check it out on your visit this fall.

Many of the paintings have such tiny details that the museum has provided magnifying glasses throughout the show so you can get up close and personal with each exquisite story. That had to be my favorite part of the entire show, I feel like I could have spent all day just taking in each colorful character and design element.

As the weather starts to grow cool, make sure you get your tickets to visit this exhibit. It is truly one of a kind.

Have a wonderful week back to business. Bye Bye (official) summer but cheers to many more warm nights for the next few weeks!

  Five Star Sensation

Hey Cleveland. Happy Monday to you! Happy short work week! Happy almost 4th of July!

Hope you managed to stay dry and enjoy the weekend. While Saturday was a complete wash out, Sunday ended up being a pretty nice summer day. During the storms we stayed in, took naps, did a ton of housework, even began to clean out the garage for summer play space. As soon as the clouds broke we ran over to Crocker to pick up a few things that I needed to grab, baby Ninja loves being out and about…just like his Mamma. On Sunday we were busy prepping for some company, going for a long walk and enjoying dining alfresco. Ah summer.

While Saturday was a busy “home day,” I was able to get away Saturday evening for probably the most amazing foodie event I had ever attended in the CLE…the Five Star Sensation; a Celebration of Food and Wine, benefitting UH Seidman Cancer Center.

IMG_2840The premise of this event is that vintners and chefs from all over (both local & national) volunteer to cook for over 2,000 guests along with live music, silent auctions and more, this was one heck of a fundraiser. There was truly something for everyone, from the well known Michael Symons pork belly pierogie to fancy desserts like spoonfuls of cotton candy and sorbet.

While we were there we ran into some of our local favorite’s including Karen Small of Flying Fig. Her dishes are always so delicious and flavorful. Here she was explaining about her burrata toasts and frenchie-inspired baguettes. (Thanks for posing for a quick pick Karen!)

One thing I need to share about this event that I just think is too cool (besides the amazing tent, the rentals, how organized and friendly all of the volunteers were and the bands) is that it is a 0% waste event. EVERYTHING get’s mulched, composted, recycled, reused…for such a big event that is a huge feat. Congrats guys, keep up the wonderful work.

AND…of course I had to share my picture of me and French Chef Hubert Keller! There were many foodie-celebrities around for the extravaganza…all of them super friendly and willing to pose. So in wrapping up this post I just want you to know…if next year you get the opportunity to purchase a ticket to this event…it is SO worth it. Not only do the funds go towards a a very worthy organization, it was a magical dining experience I will not soon forget!

I was invited to post on behalf of the Five Star Sensation as part of their public relations efforts. I was also provided two pairs of tickets in exchange for behind the scenes and during the event coverage.   Summer in the CLE!

Hello CLE! How was your weekend everyone? While it called for rained it ended up being pretty nice weather. We took Baby Ninja to Huntington Beach for a little bit as well as a few stroller walks, a first birthday, dinner with friends and even a trip to the park!

Today I just wanted to call out a few fun, not-to-miss things happening in the city this summer. Gather up some of your friends and make sure to put a few of these in your summer calendars.

Wade Oval Wednesdays  :  Music. Food. Dancing. Spend your Wednesday evening with other CLE families and friends, bring your blankets, pack your picnics and settle in for an evening of free fun. I am especially looking forward to Carlos Jones & The Plus Band, performing July 1st..get your reggae on!

Edgewater Live : Yoga, food trucks and live bands on the beach, another perfect evening in the 216. Every Thursday through August 14th join your friends and enjoy one of the best beaches our city has to offer. Thanks to InnerBliss Yoga for leading a :30 minute practice to kick off the party and to the Cleveland metro parks for utilizing the beach in a new way! We love it!

The Flea Sunday Market : While I adore the Cleveland Flea; their baby-sister the Sunday Market is my favorite! The frenchie-themed morning is like a flea you might as you wander down the streets of france. Music, antiques, macaroons, oysters and champagne, makes for the best Sunday morning EVER!

So just a few reminders of three very fun, very “Cleveland” things to do with your families and friends this summer. Hopefully I will get myself to all of them…gotta love a good outdoor concert, picnic, trip to the beach and french flea market!

(I saw this amazing mural the other night while I was downtown cheering on our AMAZING CAVS, thought I would share. SO COOL!!!)

  GO CAVS!!!

Rest easy, Cavs fans! The wait from Tuesday is over and we can finally go back to cheering on LeBron and the gang. The city of CLE is flooded with wine and gold and everyone is #ALLin for game 4. If you weren’t a Cavs fan before, the time is right to join in on all the hype!

If your’e looking for the perfect place to watch the game, there are some great go-to hotspots waiting for fans. You can check out Market Garden Brewery located on West 25th, along with Town Hall and Nano Brew on the strip. If you want to catch a glimpse of some newscast celebs, grab a drink on East 4th and you won’t miss a beat. Looking to enjoy this nice summer night? Join in on the watch party at Crocker Park or take a seat on the patio at Hoopples.

Of course as a fellow fashionista you must have the perfect Cavs gear. All of your CLE fashion can be found at places like Cleveland Clothing Company, GV Art and Fresh Brewed Tees.  Although we may not have Kevin Love or Kyrie Irving, we breathe a sigh of relief that Mathew Dellavedova (aka Delly) is re-hydrated and ready to take charge in tonights matchup. After the Cavs got the win in game 3, their chances of winning the series have increased to 84%….but we know it’s 100% for the win!!!
