The quiet after the holidays & goals.

It’s been sorta quiet these last few days at our house. Our extended families have all gone home from their long holiday visit, I am procrastinating on taking down the holiday decorations and we are still determining where all the new toys should respectfully “live” in our daily home. The quiet after all the planning and holiday magic is always such a bummer…but then I start thinking about my goals for the year and it instantly excitements me at the possibilities that lie ahead.

vest_4I tend to break down my yearly goal into 3 buckets…personal, family & business goals. How do you like to approach goal setting when it comes to looking at the year ahead?

For this year personal consists of everything about “me” and I don’t say that to sound selfish, but in more of the self-care effort. This year is the year I must buckle down and shed my baby weight or shall I say toddler weight. As someone with a family history of high blood pressure I want to get back to my healthiest self and I’ve got to make myself and my wellness a priority. I want to take better care of my skin…including washing my face before bed, (duh.) scheduling more regular facials as well as investing in a few better “over 40” moisturizers…all suggestions welcome.  Lastly I would like to make more of an effort in the evenings to get out of my leggings and sweatshirts and slip into real pajamas before bed. I have a huge collection of pajama sets but never hardly wear them, now is the time! So…not huge crazy personal efforts, but still lots of work ahead.

Family goals…as a working mom-trepreneur I admit I rely heavily on our day to day childcare destination to help infuse our toddler with his daily dose of arts. This year I am vowing to step away from work a few hours a week…or month…and take a class, make a craft, go to (more) concerts, sing, paint, whatever. His time as a toddler is so short, I don’t want to miss out on these formidable creative years and this year I am going to make an effort of being more involved. Travel…we are already talking about a few family getaways that won’t break the bank but would be fun for the whole family and even more fun for me & Mr. C. Looking forward to seeing where the year will literally take us really excites me. Last in this category would be a few more home improvements here and there. We moved into a new home last year and did the bulk of remodeling before we moved in but we didn’t touch the second floor. I want to do some painting, install a few new light and faucet fixtures and spend some time thinking about window treatments and art.

For my last goal bucket, business we have a few goals for our design studio. Nothing super wild but a few tweaks to internal processes, invest additional hours developing our Pinterest space and more creative play as a team…just to share a few goals. To stay on top of all things happening at studio Chartreuse follow us on instagram we have lots of fun things planned for the new year!

So there you have it…my goals for the new year! I look forward to attacking each of them with you by my side! I’m sure I will revisit them at some point and let you know how things are coming along…wish me luck!

Thanks to my sister @rlkobus for the fun outdoor shots of me and #ninjamax216 as we were checking out the yard, post Christmas snow melt. Max loved the time outdoors with his new Dora ball, his mom & auntie and I loved exploring the flower beds to see if anything was showing any sign of spring..not much yet.

  A visit to Cuyahoga Collective.

Hello & happy COLD weekend to us all. I hope you’ve been staying indoors bundled up with your best book or movie and mug of something hot to keep you warm. It is truly SO COLD out there, bundle up before you get out and go exploring all over the city. These temps are not joke!

img_0906I keep meaning to tell you about the most lovely shop I have stumbled into around the holidays…Cuyahoga Collective.  You’ve seen their work in a sleek, black “truck-shop” at the flea but did you know that they now have a brick & mortar store? It is located just down the street from our studio on Madison Ave in Lakewood. The new store was once home to Lakewood Reupholstery but is now a flourshing, bright, half design-clubhouse, half home decor & fashion destination. You’ve got to swing by and check it out!

img_0900Besides all of their awesome custom tee’s, sweatshirts and prints, they also offer local artisan, one-of-a-kind pieces and then a few more notable household brands as well. There truly is something for everyone on any occasion and if you need finding the most perfect gift, the team is there to assist you in choosing the best treat for you. I walked away with a new 2017 favorite, the Great Lakes crewneck sweatshirt…I have been wearing it with both comfy joggers as well as a sequin pencil skirt…just goes to show you can always dress things up or down…I digress.

img_0897Next time you are in the neighborhood you should for sure try and make time to discover this new CLE-proud boutique, if nothing else go check out the space; their remodel is stunning, nice work guys!

For more information about them make sure to visit their page or follow them on their social spaces, you won’t be disappointed! Cheers to exploring (& shopping) new stores in a new year! Stay warm Cleveland!

A 1-tank, ModCloth Roadtrip to Pittsburgh

Fall is literally my favorite season. Not just because of candy corn and pumpkin spice but because of the brisk temps, the back to school supplies and the fashions…I mean tights, tweeds, oranges, blacks and browns…need I say more?

When I think fall, I also think about weekend road trips and squeezing in all the to-do’s we didn’t get too over the summer. It’s the perfect time to throw a few sweaters and jeans in a tote and head off for a weekend adventure…this weekend would be the perfect time to go somewhere…perhaps check out Pittsburgh???

img_8006Yesterday I was in Pittsburgh for a client project and so while I was in town I made time to go visit the team at the very adorable Modcloth Pop-up store nestled in downtown Pittsburgh. As a big fan of the Modcloth website–it’s always my go-to for fun party dresses and mod-inspired staples, I was excited to hear that I could go and see the various styles live and in-person.

The pop-up features a curated collection of their always vintage-inspired clothing, accessories and home decor, as well as free styling appointments with on-site ModStylists. It seriously was so fun and filled with so many girlie details…I could have stayed and shopped all day.

A trip to the pop-up and I couldn’t resist a few new pieces for my fall wardrobe…details below.

Wine Appreciation Sweater : Besides the name which I love…this sweater is tipped with a sweet collar and faux cuffs. I can’t wait to wear this with a new pair of cords or dress it up with a stylish skirt for fall.

My Neighbor Toronto Midi Skirt : Adorable dark wash jean skirt with big gold buttons & chic back pockets! I love the little bit of stretch, I will be able to wear this piece to work and  to the playground, it’s very comfy.

Pardon My French Quarter Cape : The perfect layering accessory for fall outings. Tweed perfection.

Have a Good Skip booties : Dress ‘em up with tights or pair them with jeans for any fall ensemble. These booties pair with just about anything for a stylish alternative to fall flats.

The drive was short, a mere 2 hours and one large coffee later I was in a Modcloth wonderland. Pack up your pals this weekend and head down to the Pop-Up while they are still in town. Mod cloth : 625 Smithfield Street, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222 | Open until September 27th | Mon-Sat: 10am-8pm & Sun: 11am-6pm

A quick visit to Chagrin Falls

Hello friends of the CLE! I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed this early fall weather that is starting to linger in the air.

Over the weekend my family took a few days away to celebrate a birthday and explore the windy city…Chicago! We ate some over-stuffed pizza, walked for miles and miles, hung out with the penguins and seahorses at The Shed and played hard at the child-approved Maggie Daley Park. We also got in a bit of shopping for fall fashions and perhaps a cocktail or two when the little guy fell asleep. It was a great mini-getaway but like they say…it is always wonderful to come back home.

Last week I had a meeting in Chagrin Falls and a few minutes to kill. I hadn’t really been down near the falls and the adorable shops in some time, so I picked a few and stopped in for a bit to see what fun treats they had for fall shopping.

img_7686img_7688A few of my favorites…
Nola True : A clothing and accessory boutique for all types of fashionistas. For the chic, homecoming/party dresses to the everyday slouchy sweaters, this store has something for all types of women. I picked up a great transition sweater to wear over a summer tank top and can’t wait to throw it on for a brisk evening walk.

The Little Monogram Shop is one of those stores I have always wanted to go in and explore and it was totally worth it. From gifts for new little ones (side note, I am a new Auntie! Hooray & congrats to my sister & brother-in-law Rebecca & Frans Kobus!) to back-to-school monogrammed supplies to these adorable key tags…I loved the girl boss one. So sweet.

Gypsy Sole : Filled with a bit of cowgirl, a touch of hippie and a dollop of shabby chic, this little boutique made me smile from the moment I walked in. I love their selection of cowboy boots and sweaters but ended up walking away with a stack of letter-pressed greeting cards. The store has many area artist goods as well as a section of well-known brands…the perfect place to spend the afternoon browsing through every nook and cranny.

Long story short…I MUST schedule a weekend morning outing with my gals to fully explore all of the incredible shops by the falls. Perhaps a little brunching and mimosas are in order as well. Cheers friends to fall shopping and exploring a new part of town! Thanks Chagrin Falls for always being so adorable…can’t wait to come back real soon. :)
