  The Metropolitan at the 9

The other evening I had the pleasure of experiencing Cleveland’s newest hotspot, The Metropolitan at the 9.  A destination for tourists visiting our city to locals looking for a luxury living opportunity; this new building is something to be seen.

While it was a chilly evening we were guided to the rooftop bar and patio for the initial meet & greet part of the evening’s agenda. From there we were able to see stunning views (see below) of the city while learning more about the architecture and history of the building. MORE! →

Summer Market & Ice Cream for Gigi

Screen Shot 2014-07-21 at 11.48.41 AM

Happy Monday everyone. Did you have a great weekend? Saturday was the perfect rainy day to stay in and chill while yesterday was a spectacular day to go and celebrate summer…Taste of Tremont anyone?

While we didn’t hit up the “Taste” this year (probably not a go idea to take a newborn) we DID go for our first walk up the street which was equally exciting in my world. Getting out as a family was both thrilling and refreshing because to be honest with you, being home so much is starting to take it’s toll. While it may not have included pasta from Dante and a Sunday afternoon cocktail, it was MY perfect Sunday afternoon.

This week we have a few fun things on the agenda, including a weekend visit from my Seattle sister. While I am trying to balance baby-down-time, I still want to ensure she has a good time in the CLE and therefore have done a bit of searching for some events that could work WITH the babes.

Friday kicks off the annual Summer Market in Avon Lake and I think this will be a great place to walk around outside, get some dinner and perhaps find a treasure or two. The Summer Market kicks off Friday evening and goes all day on Saturday located on the lake at the Veterans Memorial Park in Avon Lake. A couple of my favorite vendors will be selling  their creations including Océanne jewelry and Shabby Shore home decor…there are going to be so many wonderful vendors, I can’t wait to explore.

Another fun “baby friendly” event is a fundraiser to support a little “friend of a friend.” Join the community in supporting one families fight with leukemia as Tremont Scoops donates 50% of all ice cream sales to the Gigi’s family this Saturday afternoon. For details check out the Facebook event, otherwise you’ll see us there, baby like ice cream – 1 scoop please!

So this week I am going to try and get out more, walk more and make a fun agenda for our weekend visitor also appropriate for baby. Have a great week you guys, happy summer!

  Day 7 : a dozen Brewnuts

Day_7Good Saturday morning to you Cleveland. This is it, the last weekend for holiday shopping, wrapping, baking and all sorta of festivities! Are you ready? Myself, I’m pretty good. Most of my presents are purchased and wrapped, I’ve made all of my cookie doughs, our tree is up (& already shedding it’s needles) the paperwhites are blooming around home…let’s just say the holidays are here!

This week was a wild one for me. Besides the regular holiday crazy stuff, as a small business,  Chartreuse (my real life passion job) celebrated ten years of creative design partnerships with other entrepreneurs and organizations throughout Northeast Ohio. We hosted a lovely party at the new-ish Transformer Station to celebrate with clients, vendors and friends of the studio. I’ve got to say if you ever need a place to host an event, this intimate museum was the perfect venue…and I can’t thank Gatherings Kitchen enough for the stunning and delicious treats, you guys are so talented. Oh, and did I mention it was also my birthday this week? Add to the merriment! So, that with all that I have a bit of blog catching up to do.

Are you having fun with the “12 Days of Giveaways?” I can’t thank all of the wonderful business owners enough for their generosity towards this social space. I always love to see what fun we can giveawy during the holiday’s. Just another reason to love living, working and thriving in Cleveland…all of the movers and shakers who support and collaborate with others. Cleveland YOU ROCK!

Anyhow, today I’ve got a real good one for you. Have you heard of the duo, beer loving, sweet tooth making, artisinal donut company called Brewnuts? This new business is the brainchild of Shelly Fasulko & John Pippin both west side entrepreneurs creating seasonal, beer-infused, locally made donuts right here in the CLE.

At anytime you can expect Brewnuts to have six brew flavors “on tap.” Currently they are offering two holiday flavors; Christmas Ale Gingersnap and a Chocolate Porter donut with a spike eggnog glaze. Where can you get your hands on these delicacies you may be asking? Shelly & John are currently partnering with a few local establishments such as the Tremont Taphouse where they sometimes offer a mini-brewnut flight. However, if you know of someone who is looking to offer their special donut creations to their customers give Shelly a shout to explore a sweet partnership!

For todays giveaway Brewwnuts would like to give a lucky reader a dozen of their fresh donuts; over a thirty dollar value of yummy holiday goodness. To win this dozen  just tweet me “@iheartclev I’d love to win a dozen donuts from @Brewnuts!” The winner we will be drawn by Monday, December 23rd.

A few of our recent winners
– The Alt Movie Poster book went to Jeremiah Kuch @JeremiahKuch
– 3 ride passes & a chic water bottle from Harness Cycle went to Heidi Lundy @heidilundy
– Shirt from GV Artwork went to Erin Archbold @Nire31

Have a great weekend everybody! Cheers to the holidays.

A Holiday wrapping morning with Target

Good afternoon Cleveland. Wasn’t last nights snow so pretty? While many of us navigated the slick roads home with white knuckles, this mornings shimmer on the ground made it so worth it. Last night I was able to go out and complete my shopping for my family stocking (we randomly choose one family member every year to do their stocking) as well as cross off a few other key gifts. I would say I’m 89% completed with just a few more special things to pick up.

Last weekend I invited a few gal pals over on Sunday morning for a chance to catch up during the busy holiday season, drink some holiday cheer and get a jump on our holiday wrapping. It seriously was such a relaxing way to spend time together I would highly recommend such a gathering.

I was able to get all the necessities at “my Tarjay” prior to the ladies coming over. We had candy cane flavored coffee complete with whip cream and peppermint sticks, some homemade blueberry muffins, a few Simply Balanced granola bars and fruit snacks and of course there was chocolate…lots of it!

Heather Clawson of Habitually Chic; book signing & talk!

Hello CLE and happy almost weekend to everyone. Isn’t this weather the best? Cool enough for tights but just warm enough not to have to wear your best fall coat’s yet? I love it. Plus, it’s such great weather to get your exercise on outdoors. Looking forward to this weekend’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure…I’ll be the one in pink!

Today I am THRILLED to share with you a very exiting happening/opportunity for me. One of my biggest design blogger crushes is coming to the CLE and I want to invite all of you to reserve your spot to meet Heather Clawson of the popular luxury interiors blog, Habitually Chic on Friday, September 27th at the Ohio Design Center.

HCHeather has been on my radar for many years. Her curated posts of color, fashion, interiors, design trends, travel and personal shorts are why I return time and time again to her site. Her style for gathering a post theme is something I admire in any blogger, her personal interior work is styled to the nines and her own sense of style is exquisite; I could only hope to look as pressed and polished as she does.

Anyhow, while I am pretty jazzed to be attending and meeting the lady behind the blog, guess who is the emcee for the event? YEP! You guessed it…ME (insert squeal!!!) Can we say…MUST BUY NEW OUTFIT?

What is really exciting is that this event IS open to the public, not just to the design community. Heather has just written her first book; “Habitually Chic: Creativity at Work” and will be speaking not only about the development of the book, but promises to give us a glimpse of her own inspirations, her personal design muses and even some behind the scenes stories from her design work and her blog development. The book will be available for signing, there will be special fabric, furniture and rug showrooms open that day and food trucks will be available to grab lunch on your way back to the office.

It’s the perfect way for all you design fanatics to spend your Friday morning, so to save your seat at this event, call 216.831.1245. Reservations at $10 per person and seating is limited.

Friday, 09.27.13 from 10-noon at The Ohio Design Centre, 23533 Mercantile Road, Beachwood, OH 44122. BE THERE!
