countdown garland

Happy Friday all you CLE crafters! Today I bring you my last and final holiday decor idea. Nothing too fancy or especially new, but it’s just a way to tell that special someone you care. A holiday countdown garland made especially for your loved one. It’s easy with a few simple steps.

Step 1 : Find little envelopes (and/or treat boxes). I chose a winter blue color palette for mine, but the sky is the limit!

Step 2 : I stenciled numbers on each of the envelopes to indicate the order in which they should be opened. In this case, I am showing as a 25 day countdown to Christmas, but a countdown to school break, family vacation or even to those special holiday birthdays are all possible.

Step 3 : Fill each little envelope with a special note, candy, a coupon, a fun magazine tear or a photo of fun memories. You can really get creative here!

Step 4 : I chose simple office binder clips to attach them to a red holiday ribbon. I tried to think of a place within the house that each of us go every day, and what better place than in your “powder room” to hang such a fun interactive surprise? It’s the perfect activity to keep brushing our teeth or curling our eyelashes entertaining! Over a child’s bed or as a mantel adornment are possible places for display.

Step 5 : Add a few little holiday ornaments as special touches, and you have the perfect little treat for that special someone in your life.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week of fun holiday decorating ideas. Perhaps you’ll try a few yourselves if you haven’t already. Happy pre-holiday decor season and let the crafting begin!
