So a few weeks ago I was approached about sharing a fun contest for the new Hilton Hotel and their community art installation contest. The team at the Hilton are looking to gather a collection of images for an installation for the new hotel interior of Clevelanders in the favorite CLE places or doing their favorite CLE things.
When thinking about what would be my favorite place around town I immediately thought about having a morning to myself to just wander through Ohio City. I’d grab coffee somewhere, perhaps some fruit and a crepe from the market. Do a bit of window shopping at some of the adorable boutiques and explore the new public art around the neighborhood. Honestly if I had a morning to my own in Ohio City I would like nothing else than to sit and people watch while soaking up the energy of this constantly evolving neighborhood.
Enter my friend Agnes the photographer. Agnes had approached me about doing some portrait work with her. While it’s not something I typically would do, the #myclephoto contest was the perfect excuse to collaborate with Agnes. As a fellow mom and entrepreneur I had come to admire Agnes for her ability to balance (aka juggle!) her creative side with her appreciation for the daily routine, I was excited to collaborate with her.
Agnes photographs many Cleveland families, children, seniors and does a lot of portrait work. She is kind and gentle to those of us who don’t find having our photos taken a natural daily occurrence. We were laughing how at the start of the shoot I was a bit like a robot but by the end I was just hanging out with a friend who may have been taking a few pictures.
It was such a perfect fall day in Ohio City, blue skies above and a handful of pretty summer flowers dotted the neighborhood corners. I really enjoyed taking the time to get out and explore early in the morning while the city was just waking up. If you ever have time I would highly recommend a morning visit it to Ohio City, especially on Market Days when there is so much activity in that neighborhood.
Thanks to Agnes Szlapka Studios for so many wonderful images. If you are looking for family photos for those impending holiday cards Agnes will be hosting a holiday mini-sessions for $150 on the December 5th by appointment. Spend :30-:45 minutes with Agnes and she will provide you and your family up to 15 digital field for your use. She really is so talented and kind, I promise you won’t be disappointed. For more information visit her Facebook page.
So with that I am going to take a few days off to spend with my family and friends to celebrate all that I am thankful for. Including these wonderful little nooks and cranny neighborhoods around town that inspire me, excite me and make me proud to call Cleveland home. Happy Thanksgiving everyone and thanks again to my Agnes for the very fun shots.
