  currently loving…in CLE • february

Hello from the skies above Montana! How cool is it to be able to write and stay connected while flying across the country on our way back home? I spent the first part of the flight getting myself and little Ninja all settled into our seats with snacks, games, movies and more. Then I decided to be “brave” and check out what the wifi was like and honestly, it’s pretty seamless here on Alaska Airlines.

As some of you may know, one of my goals is to check in every month with a few things I am currently loving and share them here with you guys. I hope you enjoy my February selections.

#1 : Good Company CLE : A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of a special girls night out at the new Good Company CLE. It was a Thursday night and the place was hopping with all ages looking to explore this new CLE hot spot. Created by the team behind the darling Plum in Ohio City, this new location is their equivalent but with a sports bar twist. That evening we were welcomed by their friendly team and sat at a good table in the back. We shared a tray of local french fries and chicken sandwiches along with hand-crafted, specialty cocktails. To say it was delicious was an understatement. If you are looking for a stylish place to catch your next Cavs game on the telly, plan to meet up with your pals at Good Company, nestled within Battery Park.

#2 : Perfectly Imperfect Produce : Have you seen all the not so perfect, but totally edible produce popping up in your local Instagram feed? OMG! I am in love with the new(ish) company Perfectly Imperfect Produce. Founded in 2016 by Ashley Weingart, a  fourth generation wholesale produce expert, this visionary set her sites to reduce food waste and improve healthy food access for all. What’s not to love about that? It works something like this…you go on their website and order a box of perfectly great produce that for one reason or another wasn’t purchased by area grocery stores. Once your box is prepped it will be delivered directly to your home, ready for you to use in recipes or to just to enjoy raw. The group just launched their organic boxes and soon they will be offering a juicing box with supplies every juice enthusiasts needs. If you find yourself buying lots of produce from week to week, this service is a great way to support your community while also getting a great deal on produce; boxes range in costs from $12 for a mini box all the way to $30 for a large box. Not sure you want to sign up for a repeat box membership? Give them a try with a one-time trial box for $20…I promise it is totally worth it! Happy produce, happy Cleveland! Congrats on your business success Ashley, what an incredible idea.

@perfectlyimperfectproduce#3 : Brite Winter Fest  : Last but certainly not least is this weekends upcoming annual Brite Winter Fest from 3pm-1am. Where else do people get bundled up and stand around outside in the middle of winter to celebrate music and art, then in Cleveland? While their might be extra snow this year the concert lineup is sure to keep you dancing and warm all afternoon into the evening. The afternoon is a great time to get the family involved with the various kid-friendly activities while getting a babysitter for the evening and prepare to rock out with the best from around town. I can’t wait!

#4 : The Oscars! : Real fast, while it isn’t necessarily taking place IN Cleveland, I’m sure there will be many of us tuned into the tube on Sunday night to watch this years Academy Awards Ceremony. I am SO looking forward to seeing all the silver screen stars dressed to impress. I’m having some gal pals over to watch the festivities and currently in full party prep mode…Happy Oscars everybody!

Hope you enjoyed my February “loving it” post. Chat more next month!

  Weekend fun!

So many incredibly fun things happening around town this weekend but don’t forget to bundle up and fight these insanely cold temps.

Brite Winter – An amazing winter music festival (if you make sure to wear layers upon layers) happening on and around West 25th/Market District. Music kicks off round 4pm and runs through the late night. Plan to get cozy with your fellow festival goers, the bars and restaurants are always packed during the winter celebration. Enjoy & remember to dress warm, it’s gonna be a cold one out there.

Then there is ICEFEST down at the North Coast Harbor – A celebration of the art of ice. With ice sculptures, carving contests and the not-to-be-missed fire and ice tower it’s gonna be an amazing show; something to be seen for sure.

Whatever you decide to do this weekend, dress warm, wear layers and give your friends lots of hugs to stay warm. Happy winter Cleveland!

  Brite Winter, Brite Weekend!

PostcardFRONTThis Saturday marks the fifth annual Brite Winter Festival happening in Ohio City. I can remember when it was just a baby festival with a few bands and a few volunteers and now? It is THE winter festival, not-to-be-missed.

Last year we bundled up and took to West 25th and neighboring streets to enjoy the music of both local artists and regional groups. It was such a cold night and it was snowing so hard but the neighborhood, the streets and the air were just filled with excitement and creative winter collaboration; it was truly magical.

This winter festival celebrates the best of Cleveland artists, musicians and small businesses entrepreneurs. It empowers us to go and PLAY outside. I remember being upstairs in the Cleveland Hostel crowded in with so many others trying to get warm for just one performance. It was such a mix of people, the music was awesome, we were drinking some perfect cheap beer it was one of those moments when I could step back, look around, make time stand still and appreciate the moment.

This year I can’t wait to check out some of the new stages, the returning artists and some of the smaller venues including the Classic Mini Bar at the Market Ave Wine Bar. It’s supposed to be chilly; so remember to pack a scarf, but plan to wear your best smile and embrace the cold…for pete’s sake…that’s what winter in Ohio is for!

For the artist line-up and the other details, visit their site and check in on their Facebook page! Looking forward to seeing you around Ohio City on Saturday. (This event is FREE & open to all!)

  Brite Winter & Buck Buck

Happy sunny Tuesday CLE. Are you all ready for Thursday? Happy hearts day with your best friend, your favorite guy or your main pet squeeze; always such a sweet holiday. I don’t now why I love Valentines so much? I have always loved the February holiday though…from the memories of making special valentines for my 2nd grader peers, to college valentine day formals, to spending a single girl evening with friends; overall it’s just such a pretty holiday. Loving my pink sparkles and red lipstick, bows and hearts, yadda yadda…it just makes me happy. How about you? Guys…even you, I expect to see you rocking the hearts day theme on Thursday, I’m just sayin…

If you aren’t into Valentines Day but the weekend is already on your horizon, you are in for a treat…this weekend is Brite Winter Festival; an arts & music winter celebration. I went to this event last winter and it made Ohio City look like Manhattan on New Years Eve. Parking was crazy (valet is a must!), the hustle and bustle on the sidewalks was fast and furious, the bars and restaurants were hopping and the bands and events were really cool….get it, cool? Winter?  :)

This Saturday there will be 48 bands set up around Ohio City on 6 stages, over 15 light installations and art events along with other fun happenings around town.

Along with “Brite,” around the corner and south a bit on Lorain, Buck Buck Gallery is hosting an opening to their latest installation featuring HEAVY PETALS by Molly Pamela. Check it out!

So, along with hearts day this week, it’s also a great winter week to celebrate art and music in our awesome city. Bundle up and get on out there CLE…it’s gonna be fun!
