GO CAVS!!!

Rest easy, Cavs fans! The wait from Tuesday is over and we can finally go back to cheering on LeBron and the gang. The city of CLE is flooded with wine and gold and everyone is #ALLin for game 4. If you weren’t a Cavs fan before, the time is right to join in on all the hype!

If your’e looking for the perfect place to watch the game, there are some great go-to hotspots waiting for fans. You can check out Market Garden Brewery located on West 25th, along with Town Hall and Nano Brew on the strip. If you want to catch a glimpse of some newscast celebs, grab a drink on East 4th and you won’t miss a beat. Looking to enjoy this nice summer night? Join in on the watch party at Crocker Park or take a seat on the patio at Hoopples.

Of course as a fellow fashionista you must have the perfect Cavs gear. All of your CLE fashion can be found at places like Cleveland Clothing Company, GV Art and Fresh Brewed Tees.  Although we may not have Kevin Love or Kyrie Irving, we breathe a sigh of relief that Mathew Dellavedova (aka Delly) is re-hydrated and ready to take charge in tonights matchup. After the Cavs got the win in game 3, their chances of winning the series have increased to 84%….but we know it’s 100% for the win!!!

  Headed to Alt Summit!

Good morning my Cleveland friends! Hope your week has been wonderful, exciting and filled with fun. It’s Wednesday and I couldn’t be more thrilled to head off to Hopkins and jump on over to Salt Lake City to attend this years Alt Summit Conference.

This gathering of predominantly women-owned business owners, makers and bloggers makes my heart skip a beat. As a small business owner and designer I often seek out learning opportunities to better myself, to fill my creative energy pot and to be constantly inspired. I can’t think of a better conference to attend that “Alt.” While I will be learning about better photography tricks (god knows I can improve), ways use video in my work, partnering with others and other creative topics, one thing that I love about this event is the fashion. I mean, the attendees go over-the-top with regards to style, for me it’s like visual crack.

As a new Mom I too am looking forward to dressing pretty (sans spit up) and layering the accessories one workshop to the next. I have way overpacked…seven pairs of shoes for just a  few days…but feel pretty good about my picks. I mean, for these types of all day long learning events you want to be stylish AND comfortable am I right?

I am bringing (1) a new Boden dress I got for my birthday. The bright bold bird print is playful and makes me smile, plus I don’t often wear blue but I am pretty confident in the bold hue. My shoes for this dress are super old Payless Christian Siriano purply-blue suede booties…it pays to be a bit of a shoe hoarder. I am bringing my pink Kate Spade clutch as an added pop of bold color for this outfit. For travel and casual creative chat (2) I’m gonna rock at CLE Clothing Company sweatshirt declaring my love for our city…seriously I’m loving this comfy sweatshirt, everything they make is so fun and represents our city so well. As I loose all this baby weight I am rocking some Denizen Jeans from Target, they look so polished and fancy yet they are affordable during this time of transition, I would highly recommend you check them out. I’m going to be toting all my conference materials and my computer around in my new Blair Ritchey tote. Gotta love spreading the word about a lovely Cleveland-based designer who has the talent to produce such luxurious leather goods, I love this bag. Lastly (3) I am packing lots of pink and polka dots including this overcoat by Kate Spade and these pink pixie pants also from Target, a mix of high end and everyday for this traveler makes me happy.

This will be my second time attending the conference and I am looking forward to grabbing coffee with style maven Hillary, talking retail and kids with Kim, discussing design with Chicago designer MJ, and being inspired by all things DIY with Andrea. It is a time to set goals for the year, to engage with other like-minded attendees and I’d be lying if I wasn’t pretty excited to get a few nights of solid sleep.

Have a great rest of your week. Follow along in my Alt experience on instagram @charity216. Cheerio!

  Gifts for your loved ones!

Good morning CLE! Happy hearts week. I have to say that Valentines Day is truly one of my favorite little holidays. It’s filled with chocolate and glitter, everything pink and pretty and whether you have a hot sweetie or an afternoon girl date planned, love is in the air all around.

I tried to find a few little special gifts/places that you might find interesting as good places to score a gift for your special person for Valentine’s Day…this Friday guys. Good luck and enjoy.

Indigo Perfumery : If your sweetie loves a pretty scent then you’ve got to stop by the lovely new perfumery on the Westside. I went by there the other day and was blown away with all of their international perfumes for sale. I tried a few on and really enjoyed a fragrance inspired by the English Actress “Tilda Swinton” called “Like This.” It wasn’t overly floral but had a twist of something different. Besides all of the amazing perfumes, they also offer candles and even make-your-own-scent workshops, all wonderful gifts for your love this Valentines Day.indigoLilly’s Chocolates : If your loved one has a sweet tooth then this Tremont establishment has the perfect solution for your Valentines Day gift. Lilly’s not only offers the most exquisite chocolates, don’t forget about there amazing selection of bubbly, beer & wines to go!

Urban Orchid : While I am typically a “Heinen’s flower girl”…for special occasions I can’t say enough about the creative flower masters at Urban Orchid in Hingetown. Urban Orchid creates more than just a dozen log-stemmed roses, they are so creative you’ll love what they whip up for your loved one. I’ve sent a few bouquets to friends around town and I’ve got to say not only were they stunning and unique, they were delivered on time and at a good price point. Remember, this is their busy week…get your orders in today!

Oceanne Jewelry : This lovely local jewelry artist makes the most charming pieces that will tug on the heart strings of every romantic. While she does many area shows, she also has a wonderful Etsy shop where you can explore her work and choose the perfect piece of bling for your babes.

necklaceCleveland Clothing Company : This Cleveland-pride retailer has released a few new products for the holiday week. Check out this “Haute in Cleveland” pullover that every sassy Valentine should have. Besides apparel they also offer wine glasses, posters, tote bags and more, a great place to get some gifts for the Cleveland-lover in your life.

Gatherings Kitchen, L’Albatros & La Petite Triangle : Looking to stay in for the evening but don’t want to have the evening centered around cooking? Call the team of chef’s at Gatherings Kitchen for an exquisite to-go option. We picked this dinner up last year and it was packaged so thoughtfully not to mention totally delicious. Call today to reserve your dinner. Then there is my favorite for wine and cheese L’Albatros in University Circle. I’m not sure if they will still have reservations available, but if you are looking to impress you should try your hardest to get yourself a table for Fridays holiday. My other choice for a romantic dinner out would be La Petite Triangle in Ohio City. For a sweet or savory crepe this lovely french-infused restaurant oozes romance. Same goes for them, not sure about reservation availability I would call right away!

Just a few recommendations for the happy hearts day holiday. Whatever you do or whatever small gesture of love and affection you plan to give your sweetie, the simple words of “Happy Valentines Day” will melt any heart. Happy Monday everyone hope your week is wonderful.

  Native Cleveland

Last weekend I found myself in the cutest, “pro-Cleveland” art & t-shirt store called “Native Cleveland,” located near the Beachland Ballroom.

I was wondering around the Waterloo Arts Festival enjoying the sights (belly dancers, stilt walkers and many a hipster), sounds (everything from hip hop, rock and “coffee house”) and the sunshine (well, it was pretty overcast but the sun did make an appearance or two.)  The highly stylized window displays, the nautical t-shirts graphics and all of the people shopping in the store called was calling my name.

Everything about the space from the skylight to the “display stage” to the adorable art…this store is the total package. Oh, and don’t forget the amazing CLE Clothing Co. T-shirts they sell, awesome. From a designers perspective these shirts hit the nail right on the head, quirky and fresh with a twist. While I purchased a shirt as a gift, I am currently lusting over the Lake Erie Yacht Club v-neck. it must be mine! (Note* I love everything “nauti”)

So, if you are ever in need of a great gift, a piece of art or an amazing CLE t-shirt, grab yourself a coffee, hop in the car and make your way to Native Cleveland you won’t be disappointed! Great store, you should be really proud!
