  NG Collective Studio in Domino!

Happy Friday everybody! We made it, my first week at home alone and I’ve driven in the car just me and the babes three whole times by myself; time to celebrate. I know that may seem like nothing, but seriously driving alone with a newborn in the backseat is super frightening if I may say so myself.

I want to end this great week by sharing with you a wonderful bit of press that my friends, stylish sisters and Cleveland-natives; Laura and Kristen of NG Collective Studio recently received in Domino Magazine. I met Laura years ago when we worked  together as designers, then we both went off to do our own thing, but kept in touch over the years. I met her Atlanta-based sister Kristen, through visits with Laura and was immediately smitten with her uber style and warm personality. The two of them are so lovely not to mention they are gorgeous!

I was thrilled for them when Domino Magazine featured both of the sisters and their painting/art studio NG Collective in this months magazine. Their combinations of color and texture will make any blank wall sparkle. The touch of fluorescents paired with graphic shapes and swooshes make their artwork one of a kind. I’m telling you this duo make a talented team, I’m always excited to see their new work posted to their instagram feeds.

If you are in the market for a new piece of stylish art for your swanky pad GOOD NEWS Domino has many of their pieces for sale on their site or you can always contact the artists through their website. Looking for something more custom for your space? The team are constantly designing and creating special work for residential spaces and commercial uses…new salon, boutique or cafe need art?

Way to go friends, I’m so proud of the both of you. PLUS was excited to see a bit of Cleveland creative style infused into one of my favorite national publications. Gotta love Domino!

Happy weekend, happy Sunday Market, happy perfect beach days ahead!

friday, coming out of the fog!

Hey Cleveland friends! SO so so wonderful to be slowly coming out of the “new-mom-fog” and back with you here at “iheartcleveland.” Thank you so much to so many of you who have wished us well on this new adventure into parenthood. It really meant a ton to get your kind words during the last few weeks.

After a pretty intense, four-day birth story (ask me about it some other time when we are out for cocktails) Little Baby Ninja was born into the 216 on June 29th. We stayed in the hospital for a few days before going home to further hibernate with our new family member. I now TRULY have a bigger appreciation for a quick run to Target, an impromptu manicure with the gals or a last minute spin class…these last few days I literally have been surviving one hour to another. This mom thing is NO JOKE!

While I have been “away” seems like so much has happened with you and around town. The Fourth of July was a stunning weather weekend and from what I could tell you took full advantage of the beach, rooftop fireworks, boating and boozing. Then there was the overwhelming display of love for our city and our yoga practices at the second annual Believe in CLE at the Rock Hall; did you see the aerial shots? Then there is all the Lebron “decision” which I feel like I knew nothing about until YESTERDAY (how is this possible?) and last GO CLEVELAND, Congrats to everyone who was involved in getting the GOP Convention to our city! So much fun happening around town.

Before I slipped away for these two weeks of “rest” I was working on getting us all packed up for the “hotel” (aka hospital) and thought I would share a few of the fun things I packed to take with us. While I promise this blog will in no way become an “all about baby” blog, I may from time to time slip in a bit about the Baby Ninja..because he is too cute not to share if I may say so myself…proud mom!

So while I may be home, recovering from the whole fiasco here is what we packed for me, for dad and for baby to entertain, soothe, style and make bringing baby into the world a whole lot better than the standard issued hospital garb. Enjoy!

FOR ME :  I knew I’d be living in the DVF Designed Clinic hospital gown but I had to add my own little bling so I brought gold flip flops to accessorize. I packed my favorite little bottle of coconut body spray that we bought last year on vacation in Hawaii to pretend this was just another tropical hot spot. My sister and new Auntie sent me a fancy chocolate bar from her home town of London and while I couldn’t eat solid foods pre-baby, or chocolate post-baby, I shared the sweet with any visitors and my lovely nurses. I packed lots of magazines and brought my computer but didn’t really have the mental focus to enjoy them so have been catching up on them at home. I brought my own Ms. Spade water cup which I picked up at Lovely Paper & Gifts in Rocky River as well as a big thing of Bonne Bell Lipsmackers to keep myself hydrated. My mom said Oprah swears by these cooling body wipes so they came along as well. Last, I also love the little sound box that was gifted to me  from Loop Cafe it makes wonderful  background soothing sounds perfect to soothe any stressful situation. Lots of goodies to make the “visit” more like home. MORE! →

  Weekend fun!

gingerbeer(my “beer” of choice this weekend! LOVE the retro-inspired type & color combo of this can!)

It’s the freaking weekend, baby I’m about to have me some fun! Happy Memorial Day weekend Cleveland. Hope you are excited for the three day holiday as I am.

Just a couple of things going on that I thought you should check out…

– Have you been to the new Lululemon Pop Up Summer Shop at Beachcliff Square? Not only do they have select merchandise special to that location, they are also offering FREE YOGA classes from many of the area yogi experts. For their schedule “friend them” on Facebook to be in the “lulu-know.”

– This weekend kicks off the Marc’s Annual Great American Rib Cook-Off  and Music Festival at Jacob’s Pavilion. Friday admission is $1.00 all day including tickets to see the Spazmatics in concert; super fun! Pack your own wet wipes, the ribs are delicious and you’ll want to be prepared to get messy.

– It’s “Blossom Time!” One of the MOST CHARMING festivals I have ever witnessed. You can find the popular little carnival in historic downtown Chagrin Falls, hot air balloons lift off from behind the high school and there is a 5k to burn off all the adult beverages from the holiday weekend as well. Sounds like a great springtime celebration to me! For the complete schedule visit their site here. Happy Blossom everybody!

Cleveland Foundation Day at Wade Oval on May 24th means free entry into all of the museums. PLUS a few special entry FREE admissions including the Van Gogh Repetitions exhibit at the art museum, the planetarium at the Science Museum and the new exhibit at the botanical gardens including lots of lego sculptures.

– This Sunday’s Parisian Street Market in Hingetown if the perfect place to stroll and explore some french-inspired vendors of antiques, artisanal foods and neighborhood fun. Gather your friends for brunch and then head on down to the street fair after, best morning ever! For details check out their site.

–  It’s all “Greek to me!” and there is nothing better than the food, the music, the dancing and the entire scene at this weekend’s Tremont Greek Fest! Go early, parking is typically a scavenger hunt, but TOTALLY worth parallel parking on some side street…with some guy who won’t pass you…just keep telling yourself it’s worth it for the baklava. Opa!

Happy long weekend to you. Cheers to sum sum summah time!

  Friday fun!

I know I may have posted this picture somewhere in the social space before, but I just LOVE it! You gotta love Ms. Mae West…she was one tough and quotable cookie! What a great quote for living life to it’s fullest.

Just a few details on some of the weekend highlights and a couple of other cool happenings in town.

All of the neighborhoods will be awaiting your arrival…plan to grab lunch or a beverage in your favorite neighborhood as part of this end of summer celebration.

– Tremont is also hosting it’s annual Tremont Art & Cultural Festival this weekend. Another great way to explore your city, meet artists, shop for the holidays (yes…I’ve started!) and enjoy all that our community has to offer.

Ingenuity Festival : This years festival is happening at Docks 32 and 30 with a view of our Lake Erie, north of the Science Center. The amazing science, technology and arts festival is FREE and is totally worth exploring. From what I’ve seen on instagram and such, this year is going to be over-the-top cool.
