  Some fall Friday ramblings!!!

Can we get a huge round of cheer “HOORAY” for our Cleveland Indians!!! Way to go guys, we are so proud of you. Thank you for another awesome reason to celebrate living in CLEVELAND. World Series here we come!!!

Last night we took Ninja Toddler to the Ringling Brothers Circus at the Q. It was seriously so, so cool. While they may have retired the elephants, there was plenty of other exciting action to keep us all super entertained and at the edge of our seat the whole show. The opening act of all the acrobats walking on the moon was so visually incredible, it was perfect for kids and us older kids. :) The circus is in town until the 23rd. Get your tickets and don’t miss out.

Can we even just talk about Barrio Tacos and pumpkin spice lattes? Last week we took a lunch outing over to the Barrio Lakewood and I can’t stop thinking about it. Their chips, salsa, margaritas and my made-to-order taco was so yummy. If you haven’t been to one of their locations, seriously run don’t walk…unless you feel like running by a coffee shop and sipping a sweet, spicy pumpkin spice latte instead? Either way tacos or latte’s, this fall has been filled with so many awesome indian summer patio days, I am super thankful.

Have you heard about all of the fun that the team over at GroundSwell & Harness Cycle have been whipping up? Their pop up rides and yoga-about-town have been making waves all over the city…big, beautiful, inspiring waves! If you are interested in trying out one of their pop up rides or yoga classes; visit their site and reserve your spot! Just yesterday they hosted a few rides at the House of Blues…next up, the Rock Hall! See you in the saddle friends.

Thinking about your holiday shopping yet? I am planning on picking up a few of my gifts at this years Poinsettia Place presented by the Junior League of Cleveland at The Glidden House, Saturday November 19th. Support local small makers and entrepreneurs as they kick off holiday shopping season with special offerings all while enjoying brunch and a few mimosas with your friends. For more information visit their site to grab your tickets while there are a still few available.

Speaking of holiday shopping…I also just recently got the date of the Cleveland Institute of Art, holiday student sale!!! It kicks off Friday, December 2nd and runs through the weekend. I have been to this sale before and it literally always has great, affordable work for everyone. For location and time details visit their page here.

So, while this wasn’t a typical post from me I just thought I would ramble on a bit and touch base and say “hi!” Have a great weekend. Stay warm…time to bust out the warm sweaters & scarves. Happy Friday, Happy weekend everyone!

  the new Spotted Owl

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had great November weekends. Ours was pretty nice, quiet but nice. Friday we went to an awesome house party filled with a lot of great Cleveland personalities, Saturday I hit up Harness Cycle for a challenging ride then headed into my studio to get a jump on the week. The rest of the day we stayed in to hang with Baby Ninja, do a bit of housework and other grown up things (can we say “make a budget?”) Sunday I went to the Art Museum to see the film Advance Style which was awesome, hit up Crocker Park for a weeks worth of Trader Joe’s and a bit of Baby Gap! All in all a great Northeast Ohio weekend.

Last week my Mom visited us to hang out with her Grandson “Baby Ninja” and help us out a few days with childcare. It was awesome having her around the house. I wish we had family that lived closer…for those of you that DO…make sure they know how thankful you are for them. One of the best perks of having “Nanna” visit is that Mr. C and I got to go out, sitter-free on a school night. Super fun!

We decided to explore the relatively new Spotted Owl nestled in the neighborhood of Tremont. The bar feels like you’ve transported yourself to an adorable British pub, every detail so perfect. The wood bar, counters and furniture seems like it has been there for a very long time while from what I can gather it is all new construction. The stained glass windows that were made for the space, seem like they were rescued from an old ministry. The wallpaper, bar menu’s and glassware, every detail was accounted for…seriously lovely.

For my evening pick, I chose a “You Guys are Indian, Right?” a bit of a traditional Manhattan  with a touch a citrus. It was so delicious, I am still sorta craving another one now.

Next time you get a “free” school night out I would totally advise you to pop into Spotted Owl, pull a stool up to the bar and explore their extensive drink menu. You won’t be disappointed.

  Fall happenings!

photoHello and happy BROWNS WIN to all. Thanks Hoyer & team, you guys were amazing! What an incredible fall weekend we had. I hope you were able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and fall happenings.

Saturday I hit up the Flea with a pit stop into the Indigo Imp Brewery. Thanks to the owners for mixing up this creative fall shandy for me…part Old City Soda in Grapefruit and part Blonde Bomshell, makes a wonderful fall afternoon treat. Never been to Indigo Imp? Check out their listing of brewery events to find out when you can swing in for a sample of their small batch brews.

If you weren’t able to hit up the flea, the Sunday Market in Hingetown hits West 29th and Detroit this upcoming weekend…Sunday from 10am-4pm. I am planning on stopping by the parisian-style street fest post Harness Cycle’s first annual “Running the Bridges” road race. While I am not planning on actually running the race (not there yet,) Baby Ninja and I are going to cruise along with the baby jogger and enjoy being out and about in downtown CLE. Are you interested in the race? Check out the registration page to secure your spot.

To continue the fall weekend fun we packed the car with a few 8 year olds and headed south to explore Mapleside Farms and their fall festival. If you’ve never been it truly is a magical fall experience. From Corbo’s apple fritters to a massive “bounce cloud” (think bounce house without walls on sand) to all sorta of apples and don’t forget elaborate face painting and a paintball zombie hayride. If you are looking for a well-oiled, fall festival machine (plus a few caramel apples) head down to the farm this upcoming weekend, fingers crossed for another great weather weekend.

While the weekend was amazing, I’m really looking forward to this upcoming weekend farm dinner with friends at the Spice Acres Farm nestled in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The proceeds from this dinner will go to help the Bebenroth Family as they repair and “grow” the farm. You can either buy tickets to the entire dinner or for just the after hours bonfire and marshmallow roast. For details visit the event brite page and to learn more about their efforts watch their kickstarter video, it is so well done.

So needless to say, it was a busy and fun fall weekend…but if you are looking to immerse yourself in the fall fun, there is still plenty to look forward to. Go get your apples and pumpkins on. Happy fall everyone.

  Jet’s Pizza

photoGood Monday morning friends. How were your weekends? I hope everyone was able to go out and explore something new in our city.

We had an amazing time Saturday evening at both the new Harness Cycle; Hingetown Studio opening party as well as Playhouse Squares 23rd Annual Jump Back Ball. A fun filled evening out on the town catching up with tons of friends is seriously the perfect night out in my books.

Sunday was quiet recovering from Saturday evening’s festivities filled with House of Cards, house stuff AND my new latest favorite pizza delivery, Jet’s Pizza! Founded in Michigan (don’t hold it against them!) this franchise is quietly joining the ranks of Ohio’s best delivery for a deep dish slice. Their pizzas are square in shape with a crispy crust and plenty of cheese and toppings; I’m telling you you’ve got to try it. If you liked a Pizza Hut crust circa 1990, then you will love Jet’s. Best part, there was plenty left over, enough to pack in my Monday lunch today. Yumm.

This week proves to be a busy and fun one. How about you? Any great last week of February celebrations? Wasn’t it just January? Where is 2014 going?

Have a great pizza-filled Monday everyone. Cheers!
