A few weekends ago we found ourselves leisurely exploring downtown on a Sunday morning, that alone was awesome…and then it happened, we stumbled upon the new location of Jack Flaps, The Luncheonette in the 5th Street Arcade. Immediatley we were smitten.
I had these amazing eggs with homemade sausage, a spicy green salsa and jalepeno’s. Add my bottomless cup of Rising Star coffee and it seriously made for the best surprise brunch I’ve had in months.
So, the moral of this little story is if you are looking for a great brunch with amazing architectural views of the historical arcade than look no further to the new-er “Luncheonette” by team Jack Flaps!
Hey Cleveland. Everybody staying nice and warm? I mean..while I’m typically not one to complain about the weather…please Mother Nature, anything above 0 degrees would be welcome!
Over the weekend I had a visitor from the big apple and while we spent most of our time huddled up around the fireplace we did get out on the town a bit.
Kicking off the girls weekend, we hit up Jack Flaps for a totally indulgent brunch of Lemon Curd Pancakes and the PB& J French Toast. Then we did a bit of thrift shopping, grocery shopping (West Side Market & Park to Shop Asian Market) and with one glass of vino from Deagans headed home to settle in for the winter hibernation. But enough about my weekend…let’s talk about this upcoming week…
It’s a big week here in the 216. Lots of fun, fundraisers and parties about town. Wednesday night kicks off the fun with the second annual Hunger Network of Clevelands “All about the Bag!” party. Congrats to Missy Krause, she won a pair of tickets to the evening soirée! Missy, email me for details. For those of you who still need tickets, visit their site NOW!
Then there is the annual Playhouse Square bash on Saturday evening…the 24th annual Jump Back Ball celebration. I’ve got my sparkly dress how about you guys? While tickets may be sold out I believe you can find a few for sale on Craigs List, check it out.
So while the weekend might have been full of lounging, lattes and a bit of baby play, this week is all about getting dressed up and celebrating some of our local non profits. Happy Monday you guys. Chat real soon.
Hey Cleveland. Such a busy week and it’s only half way. I love this time of year when goals are “in your face” and making time for friends you didn’t see during the holidays is a MUST on every priority list. One of my first 2014 places I wanted to explore was the new creation of Momocho owner, chef Eric Williams…the new Jack Flaps. Located on Lorain Ave., south of St Ignatius, this little hot spot serves a mean cup of joe to compliment their many creative breakfast specialties. The space is bright and cheery (loves the white painted ceilings!) and the photography is bound to make your smile.
I had the french toast with a fig, ham and marscapone cheese compote along with two eggs sunny side up. I love a bit of sweet and salty to start my day and this for sure had both. Try and get there early as this popular new joint fills up fast; especially on weekends. We ended up at the bar, which worked out great as we didn’t have to wait too long for our breakfast feast.
Looking for a new morning joint? Go try our Jack Flaps this weekend. I can’t wait to hear what YOU think.
