OMG you guys, where did summer go? It was like one minute it was sunny and we were hanging by the lake and then Labor Day weekend came and Mother Nature flipped her switch and it was instant fall. I don’t know about you…but I like the more gradual approach to seasonal changes. I like to try and squeeze in my last wear of my white pants and summer blouses. I like to sleep with the windows open. I LOVE to drink margaritas outside somewhere on a patio. Summertime, you will be missed because I feel like it is officially fall in Cleveland.
Just a few weeks ago I met up with a friend downtown at our gorgeous Public Square for an drinks & snacks at one of my favorite “healthy” dining destinations; REBoL. We sat outdoors and took in the warm sunshine and summer evening sounds of people laughing, playing music and hanging outdoors. We watched the kids play in the fountains and I even jumped in and splashed around with them…I just couldn’t resist.
I had one of the best maple and limeade cocktails I have ever experienced and summer felt complete. It’s like we knew that any day now the seasons would change and while we were enjoying strappy sandals and straw bags we would soon be in suede booties and big fall scarves.
Over this past weekend I did my officially closet switch and brought out all of my fall sweaters and cozy boyfriend jeans and coats…I LOVE good coats. I packed away my summer prints…although you might see this incredible “camel coat” pop up with a black turtle neck underneath it this fall, for the most part all of the spring/summer stuff has been put in the way back of my closet until next year. Boo hoo.
If you haven’t been downtown to check out REBoL, you should totally plan a visit. Morning, noon and night, they have a very tasty menu and it is for the most part pretty healthy but always delicious. I actually really love their breakfast menu and always suggest to clients we meet there for project meetings. So yummy.
Hope everyone had a great week back to work after a long holiday weekend. It is supposed to be kinda yucky weather-wise over the next few days, so bust out those rain boots and warm sweaters and stay dry.
Please also keep all of those affected by the recent storms in Texas, Florida and the Islands in your thoughts and prayers, their weather has been nothing like I can even imagine. Have fun packing up your summer duds and pulling out your sweaters…WELCOME FALL in the CLE!
Good morning my Cleveland friends! Hope your week has been wonderful, exciting and filled with fun. It’s Wednesday and I couldn’t be more thrilled to head off to Hopkins and jump on over to Salt Lake City to attend this years Alt Summit Conference.
This gathering of predominantly women-owned business owners, makers and bloggers makes my heart skip a beat. As a small business owner and designer I often seek out learning opportunities to better myself, to fill my creative energy pot and to be constantly inspired. I can’t think of a better conference to attend that “Alt.” While I will be learning about better photography tricks (god knows I can improve), ways use video in my work, partnering with others and other creative topics, one thing that I love about this event is the fashion. I mean, the attendees go over-the-top with regards to style, for me it’s like visual crack.
As a new Mom I too am looking forward to dressing pretty (sans spit up) and layering the accessories one workshop to the next. I have way overpacked…seven pairs of shoes for just a few days…but feel pretty good about my picks. I mean, for these types of all day long learning events you want to be stylish AND comfortable am I right?
I am bringing (1) a new Boden dress I got for my birthday. The bright bold bird print is playful and makes me smile, plus I don’t often wear blue but I am pretty confident in the bold hue. My shoes for this dress are super old Payless Christian Siriano purply-blue suede booties…it pays to be a bit of a shoe hoarder. I am bringing my pink Kate Spade clutch as an added pop of bold color for this outfit. For travel and casual creative chat (2) I’m gonna rock at CLE Clothing Company sweatshirt declaring my love for our city…seriously I’m loving this comfy sweatshirt, everything they make is so fun and represents our city so well. As I loose all this baby weight I am rocking some Denizen Jeans from Target, they look so polished and fancy yet they are affordable during this time of transition, I would highly recommend you check them out. I’m going to be toting all my conference materials and my computer around in my new Blair Ritchey tote. Gotta love spreading the word about a lovely Cleveland-based designer who has the talent to produce such luxurious leather goods, I love this bag. Lastly (3) I am packing lots of pink and polka dots including this overcoat by Kate Spade and these pink pixie pants also from Target, a mix of high end and everyday for this traveler makes me happy.
This will be my second time attending the conference and I am looking forward to grabbing coffee with style maven Hillary, talking retail and kids with Kim, discussing design with Chicago designer MJ, and being inspired by all things DIY with Andrea. It is a time to set goals for the year, to engage with other like-minded attendees and I’d be lying if I wasn’t pretty excited to get a few nights of solid sleep.
Have a great rest of your week. Follow along in my Alt experience on instagram @charity216. Cheerio!
TGIF! It’s been a very busy and fun week. Lots of meetings about cool upcoming projects, and many different partnership opportunities. Halloween and the holidays are slowly sneaking up on us, there is a chill in the air and I wore tights and boots yesterday! I am already dreaming of sugarplums and candy canes.
Today I wanted to thank everyone who came out to last weekends event at Kate Spade in Beachwood Mall. We had a wonderful turnout, it was great to meet so many readers and visit with friends. I think everyone enjoyed the little make and take fortune cookies that you could dip in frosting and make the sparkly with edible sugar sparkle. The green tea and sparkling water were perfect for a little pick me up while shopping the latest Shanghai Collection. All in all it was a great evening out!

Hey friends! Happy Tuesday to ya. This week has been flying by, don’t you think? I feel like all of our work clients have returned from summer break and we are all ready to get down to business for the final push of 2014. Work is well, baby is still sweet as pie and things are good.
Today just a little reminder about an event I am co-hosting with Kate Spade at Beachwood Mall this upcoming Saturday evening. Come and shop, sip some bubbles, try on many pairs of sparkly shoes, layer yourselves with baubles upon baubles…it’s going to be such a fun event. Reserve your spot for the fun at firstname.lastname@example.org, invite your friends, the more girly love the better.
Looking forward to seeing you there. Cheers! -me
Hello everyone. I hope you had a wonderful few days off and are ready to enter the fall season rested and relaxed. Our holiday weekend kicked off with a summer barbecue on Friday night hosted by yours truly and family. This was our first time entertaining with a baby and I think we did a fantastic job if I may say so myself. To be honest, it was very therapeutic…planning the menu, shopping, doing all the prep and then enjoying the evening as our friends enjoyed themselves at our home. It was wonderful to know that yes, we could have a babes and still be ourselves. Granted, we were beat the next day but all the cleaning and leftovers were totally worth every minute of the night before. Cheers to parties with friends who don’t mind if a baby is in the mix. Thanks guys!
Now, onto what’s really important…So there is this store that I write about, drool about and fuss over from time to time…Kate Spade, heard of it? Yes of course you have.
The Kate Spade store in Beachwood Mall and I are hosting a very fun evening of shopping, special offers, a purse giveaway and lots of other glittery fun on Saturday, September 13th. The fundraiser runs all day from 10am-9pm but the Kate Spade party is from 6-8pm, don’t miss out.

Did I even mention the create your own glitter fortune cookies and purse giveaway? There will be snacks and bubbles, fashion and glitter…lots of glitter. You have got to put this event in your calendars, I’d love to see everyone and meet some of you, I promise it to be a great time!
