  Sharing the CLE

Hello & happy friday everyone. Hope you have enjoyed your week and have lots on the agenda for your weekly holiday. This weekend, I’m gonna hit up the Weapons of Mass Creation Festival tomorrow to hear Ms. Grace Bonney of Design Sponge speak and maybe try and swing by the Feast of the Assumption in Little Italy for some authentic Italian food. I also might try and finish up a few home projects and get outside to enjoy this almost fall-like weather. What are you guys up too this weekend?

Last weekend was a whirlwind one for me. I’ve sorta been a bit of a hermit since Baby Ninja was born; just trying to get a grip on motherhood as it pertains to “4th trimester” style, personal freedom and let’s not even talk about sleeping…time’s are a changing. However when I was approached by Positively Cleveland about hosting a fellow blogger from Chicago for a weekend I thought it was the perfect segway into getting back out on the town and boy did we ever.

Friday night I met Lauren of Lion and Maven, at the new Urban Farmer for cocktails and and charcuterie. The new hot spot was rockin and there were lots of guests enjoying the patio.  I have to say, it was the perfect place to kick off the weekend and get to know my out of town guest. From there we had dinner at Chef Michael Symons’ East 4th establishment; Lola’s. Dinner included wonderful salads, oysters, beef cheek pierogies, halibut, pork chops and dessert to share. After dinner we wanted to check out the new Red Steakhouse rooftop bar which showcased wonderful views of that part of the city; it’s gonna be one busy bar once the Cavs start up again. Then it was time to go home…I was beat to say the least.

  Friday Fun!

HAPPY FRIDAY! Long week, huh? It seems that with fall comes fun and all I do is daydream of pumpkins and apple picking with the occasional candy corn pigout from time to time. :)

This weekend, unlike others there is plenty to keep a girl entertained around town. Check out any of these fun happenings as well as take advantage of the super nice weather. It’s supposed to be in the upper 70’s…but I’m still planning for boots and scarves!

– Visible Voice Adult Spelling Bee : Tonight, join the gang at Visible Voice for their first ever adult spelling bee. Drink beer, buy books, get judged on your spelling by Cleveland’s own, Mike Polk. If you like words, love to read, enjoy watching people challenge their brain (no phones allowed) this is sure to be a fun evening.

Run for Recovery : Who do you route for? Onion? Mustard? Ketchup? I’m more of a mustard type of girl. In this case it doesn’t really matter, all the characters will be on their best behavior at Saturday mornings 5K/1mile run to be held within Progressive Field. The race kicks off at 8:30am as you wind yourself around the halls of the stadium,  and finish strong outside on the field! It’s gonna be a fun morning for a fun run, so tie up your laces and support the cause!

– Oktoberfest  : Saturday evening gather your friends at Tremont Taphouse for the kick off of fall brewsky’s! A 30-piece German Music Society brass band will kick off the celebration around 5pm. Pretzels, housemade schnitzel, spatzel, Weisswurst, potato pancakes and apple chutney will be on hand as well as large number of Octoberfest beers in boot-shaped mugs. $5 cover.

The Ohio City Harvest Festival : I know I already talked about it, but just another reminder to support the gang of farmers in Ohio City at this weekend’s celebration. Saturday, Ohio City Farm 12-4pm

Peninsula Porch Party – Grab your bikes, hit the tow path, enjoy a pumpkin ale and celebrate music on the porches of local musicians. Saturday from  from 11am-11 pm, Peninsula hosts the fifth annual Music on the Porches. PLUS, my ultimate area girl crush band, HEY MAVIS (Boy=Girl) will complete the evening with a concert at G.A.R. Hall, Most of the events are free that day, but you’ll want to get a ticket to their show for sure. explorepeninsula.com

Cleveland Browns Football : The Browns are in town Sunday…let’s bring home another win boys! Who is tailgating?

Big Little Comedy Festival : Looking for a few laughs? So many comedians all in one place is funny in and of itself. You won’t want to miss this gathering of funny people at the annual Big Little Comedy Festival.

Just a few things to do in the 216 this weekend. Let the planning begin!
