Happy Friday everyone! It’s a cold one out there don’t you think? I mean when the windows of your home are frosting on the inside then you KNOW it’s a cold one. Yikes!

While it may be a chilly out, there are so many weekend activities that will keep us warm you should for sure check out some of these highlights.

Cleveland artist, Erin Guido is hosting a one-woman opening at Urban Orchid tonight. Her work is filled with bright, colorful sayings made from both cut paper and paint.  Inspired by the city around her, Erin also works full time at LAND Studio. Erin’s art is so fresh and playful, you’ll love her and want to buy up all of her prints to hang in your winter homes!

Feel like busting a move on the dance floor to shake off the “winter chillies?” Hit up the February MIX at the Cleveland Museum of Art as they host a funky dance party featuring our own, Cleveland DJ, DJ Mazi Jahi. Tonight from 5-9pm. Tickets are $10, cash bar.

Cleveland Valentines Bazaar. Looking for a sweet locally made gift for your Valentine? Look no further than the show and sale this Saturday. From 10am to 4pm stop into there Lakewood Masonic Temple to meet the makers behind some exquisite gifts for your honey.

There is a new gallery show in town, opening this Saturday at the Transformer Station. Process and Abstraction opens to the public Saturday evening at 7pm. This museum is by far my favorite little arts gem tucked into the Hingetown neighborhood, it is just too cool. I highly recommend checking it out!

Veggie U Food & Wine event

Good morning friends. Everyone have a great evening? So many wonderful happenings on Wednesday evenings in the CLE. From the weekly Wade Oval Wednesday music & cultural evenings to the new musical performances at the Ohio City Stages (at the Transformer Station in Hingetown) summer Wednesday’s are the new Fridays!

Last night was my first outing alone with our Baby Ninja or anyone else for that matter. I needed to go into work for a bit and then swing by Target for a few staples and I realized how crazy and liberating the whole experience was. What I once took for granted was now a quiet and mind-gathering experience. While I didn’t stroll through the aisles looking for the new designer accessories or shade of lip stain; instead hit up the baby aisle, grabbed some paper plates (to cut down on dishwashing) and packing tape (for my online shopping returns,) I enjoyed the escape just as much as I used too. Life is evolving in my world and with it comes daily reminders of what once “was” and what now “is.” All you Cleveland mums and dads out there ever feel the same? Such a bizarre feeling.

veggieU Today I wanted to take the time to give a quick push for an amazing event this Saturday night, the Veggie U Food and Wine event happening at Pura Vida  and Hospitality Management Center at Cuyahoga Community College on Public Square. A few years ago we went to this same fundraiser dinner and it completely blew my mind. Multiple chefs, an array of fresh veggies with every course, summer cocktails and even better, we got to take home a bag of locally-grown, unique vegetables as our parting gift. It was the perfect summer evening out. If you don’t know about Veggie U, it is a non profit that encourages raising awareness in school-aged children about healthy food options and awareness as to where their food comes from…grows. It’s a “classroom garden” program grounded in academics with a dash of fun including growing their own plot of veggies. The good news is that there are still a handful of tickets available for this annual dinner celebration for this Saturday night and I encourage you to grab some friends, make a donation to this wonderful organization and enjoy a summer evening out to dinner while making a difference. Get your tickets today! I hear it’s supposed to get warmer over the weekend and while I love snuggling under the covers with this new little one I’m ready to get back into a few summer maxi’s so bring on the sunshine. Have a great rest of your day. Cheers CLE!

Wade Oval or Ohio City Stage

It’s a wonderful, wild, wacky WET Wednesday in the CLE. We are half way through another fine week and gearing up for the forever fun weekend ahead. Looks like we will be rain free, fingers crossed.

Tonight we celebrate Wednesday’s as the new Thursday’s with a TON to do in our fair city. Don’t even let me hear a peep that you have nothing to do this summer, get out there and EXPLORE!

First stop is the new Transformer Station for the Wednesday evening block party  including musical performance and film screenings presented by Ohio City Stage/Cleveland Museum of Art. Music kicks off around 7:30pm and movies round 9:30pm.

Along with the Ohio City fun, you can also find amazing art performances at Cleveland’s Signature Summer Concert Series; WOW! Wade Oval Wednesdays. From now through the end of August you can see dancers, performers and all sorts of musicians. From Motown, to Reggae, from Folk to Bossa Nova…there is something for everyone. So pack your picnics, bring your blankets and get ready to enjoy one of the summers best treats, I promise you’ll be “wowed!”

*Note, did I mention that BOTH of these arts evening’s are open to the public and completely FREE?!!!

  An Arts Weekend!

WOW, where did all this snow come from? Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but from what I heard the roads were a real bummer for some of our commuters.

Anyhow, back to business…it’s and ART weekend in CLEVELAND and I couldn’t be more jazzed to get out and explore.

First up is tonight’s opening of the new Transformer Station located in Ohio City (next to the Cleveland Vibrator Company…tee hee.) The Transformer Station is a project presented by the Bidwell Foundation in association with the Cleveland Museum of Art bringing contemporary art from around the world to the west side of Cleveland.
