  Thai elephant

Looking for some awesome thai food on the westside? Well, look no more because Thai Elephant has come to Kamm’s Corner. We went the other day for lunch and I gotta say, it was a really yummy. All of the herbs and ingredients that went into my little happy bowl of soup and perfectly pan fried egg roll were fresh and flavorful. The lunch deals were affordable and quick, I can’t wait to go back for dinner some evening soon. Check it out when you can, call for take out, support this local gem.

  excitement for aloft

The other day I had the opportunity to get a birds eye view of the soon-to-be aloft hotel nestled in the Flats East Bank Development.  See the wall of windows at the far end of the photo? That will be where the swanky lobby and the w xyz hotel bar will be. See the concrete square in the courtyard? That will be the area for the outside fireplace, all weather lounge furniture and a great spot for outdoor entertaining.

It’s coming friends, so reserve your room for this fall’s Browns home opener…or next years Jump Back Ball…this hotel is gonna rock, time to start collecting your Starwood Hotel points today. Cheers!

  An Arts Weekend!

WOW, where did all this snow come from? Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but from what I heard the roads were a real bummer for some of our commuters.

Anyhow, back to business…it’s and ART weekend in CLEVELAND and I couldn’t be more jazzed to get out and explore.

First up is tonight’s opening of the new Transformer Station located in Ohio City (next to the Cleveland Vibrator Company…tee hee.) The Transformer Station is a project presented by the Bidwell Foundation in association with the Cleveland Museum of Art bringing contemporary art from around the world to the west side of Cleveland.

  2013 let’s do it!

Happy new years friends! Another year behind us and another thrilling year on the horizon. From the looks of facebook and holiday cards, looks like all of you think 2013 is “THE YEAR,” …I’m right there with you!

I’m a big list maker. I make daily lists, sometimes hourly lists, I thrive when I can cross things off my lists. I make lists for today, lists for the weekend and lists for the year. I’m not one to call them “resolutions” per say, but rather intentions or goals for where I see my visions headed. This year is like no other. I am still working on my “2013 best year ever” list but I will tell you how I break it down.

The first category is “life; fitness & adventure.” In this category items like
- take even better care of my skin which includes an eye cream regimen & regular facials
- run for fun; not for races
- travel to visit my friend Jo in NYC, my friend Jay in Chicago & take a long holiday to Hawaii with my main squeeze

The next category would be “business.” As some of you may know I am a graphic designer by day at Chartreuse Inc. We are a boutique design firm in Lakewood and are kicking of 2013 celebrating our tenth year in business. A few of my personal goals that top the “business category” are…
- get to work earlier in order to get a jump on emails & client projects
- make more time for face to face meetings with my clients as opposed to just phone calls & emails
- pinch myself everyday that I am so lucky to be doing what I love surrounded with amazing people who I admire & respect!

The last category on my yearly goals list is here, this cyber world that we meet at, “the blog.” Yes, I set goals for even here, it helps me stay engaged and reminds me how much I love spreading the news about all the fun and thrilling happenings right here in the CLE! So some of the top goals for the blog this year are…
- bimonthly posts focused more on family outings & events (think “i heart cleveland families”) written by one of my besties who happens to rock at having three kids & being a super friend to all.
- Integrating additional guest posts from the MEN of the CLE. While I try to keep the blog gender neutral, come on people we all know I tend to drift towards glitter and bubbles…it’s time to hear what the guys like…interested men drop me a note!
- lastly to do a better job at twitter and corresponding with the readers.

So that’s a little look at my intentions/goals for this exciting year upon us. I can’t wait to see how the year pans out. I’m lucky to have such a great group of readers, friends and family to kick off 2013 with. Cheers and love to you all!

  Welcome new year!

Welcome 2012! I am so thrilled to meet you. Our friendship is soon to be filled with adventures, laughter, joy and excitement. If you are anything like 2011, I can’t wait to get to know you!

If you are like me then it’s hard to pick just one goal for the new year. Instead I usually begin hemming and hawing the day after Christmas about the impending goal list for the upcoming year. Would it be filled with small attainable celebrations or instead just a few gigantic goals. Would the list read like a small history novel or a more succinct bulleted list? Would it exhaust even me from the time the pen hit paper or did I feel good about every little detail, knowing I too could accomplish it easily?

I like to break up my goal list into three different parts the first basic list is “life, fitness, adventure & happiness” the second is “business” and the third one is “blog,” yes folks, I even have goals for this cyberspace log; I find is always makes things more interesting.

Ever heard the saying if you put an idea or thought out into the universe you are more likely to achieve the goals? (goes something like that) Below are a few of my goals in hopes that putting them out there will keep me focused and true to my ideas for this very special year.

> Floss more….I guess I really mean  floss in general.
> Travel to far off lands including Dallas, Palm Springs (Modernism Week,) Austin (sxsw,) Chicago and if things go my way…India!
> Complete the remodel project of my 1972 Land Yacht Airstream silver bullet camper and throw a huge beach party to celebrate her beauty
> Run the Cleveland 10 k or if I’m feeling it the half marathon
> Establish more girlfriend time; aka more Brunch!
> Plan another creative adventure for myself and the two designers I work with
> Do my best to always keep fresh flowers at the office for everyone to enjoy
> Dabble in space design and interior projects; I truly love a good remodel or new business space design
> Develop another Valentines Day promotion for the blog, (remember last years pencil promo? It was so much fun!)
> Secure 12 guest bloggers for the year to tell us why “They heart CLE!”  Anyone interested?
> Do more karaoke! Thanks to my new personal karaoke system I can now sing my heart out daily in my jammies! (my poor poor neighbors)

So, those are just a few of my 2012 goals… how about you share some of yours with me?
Happy New Years CLE, it’s gonna be a great one, I can feel it!

  Burntwood Tavern : opening

hello Cleveland & happy Friday.

So much to do this weekend from yard work cleanup to the big Cleveland Magazine “Best Of” Party, a trip to the Westside Market an awesome girlie clothing shop with other fellow CLE bloggers, a wedding reception of friends and to wrap it up…GO Brownies! How does your weekend look? Gotta love fall in Ohio, it’s seriously beautiful!

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending opening day of the new Rocky River location of the new Burntwood Tavern (in the old Pub location at Beachcliff Market Square.) I was overly impressed of the space makeover…good bye uncomfortable throne chairs, hello gas fireplace, Good bye British replica art and hello locally resourced barn wood and unique handmade light fixtures.

While the space is stunning the food on the menu is JUST as yummy. From pumpkin ravioli to yummy lunch combos of soup, salad and half sandwiches. This place has something for everyone, plus it is very reasonably priced overall. The bar looks well stocked with plenty of bottles of wine and good unique beers on tap. I think this new space is going to do well, like the Deagan’s of Rocky River.

Their opening meet and greet is this Saturday night, swing by to check it out. I’d love to hear your feedback, enjoy!

  Sweet Moses Monday

Happy Sweet Moses Monday!

Were you able to get out this weekend and enjoy the latest and greatest sweet shop that Cleveland has to offer? Let me tell you, I was able to taste test a few of the perfect little treats a few weekends ago and I am still having visions and dreams of Sweet Moses dancing in my head.

Caramel popcorn, bacon & peanut butter sandwich, a sweet strawberry phosphate soda delight and to top it off a simple bowl of the most refreshing, chocolatey mint ice cream, it was a decadent afternoon of sugar-filled happiness.

This new eatery is going to be my summer go-to, I can just feel it. With a quick hop on my bicycle, a snap to my helmet and a handful of “moses money” (stop in to buy their adorable wooden coins to use for purchase) the warm summer nights will be soothed by the fresh ice cream (including Belgian Chocolate & Bananas Foster) and dark chocolate pretzel “bark.”

Owner Jeff and his family have poured hours of love and history into this new city treasure. The interiors boast a historic marble fountain counter, the simple wire parlor chairs compliment the wooden booths of the party room and with no detail left untouched the register shines a vintage golden hue.

Make your plans to visit Sweet Moses ASAP, I promise you will be overjoyed with the details of every sweet sundae, with the charming interiors and most of all…that we can say, Sweet Moses (Cleveland) is open and ready for your visit.
